For a supposldly "green" area of California, being part of Ectopia essentially, I noticed very few buses and I agree I would not want to walk it, bike it or ride a motorized scooter such as disabled people use. That Y intersection was difficult for drivers also. I suspect the cars going through the red light were already committed to a turn and did not have time to complete it. It is a kludge designed by primates. Stupid human primates.
@LLRobinett If you carefully watch, the last car doing that turn came up to the light the same time as a white truck in the other turn lane, except the white truck stops and the white sedan keeps going.. You're probably right about the other cars going through after the light is green (maybe light for turn doesn't stay yellow long enough?), but that last car definitely ran the red. Probably figured it'd be okay because they were close enough behind other cars.
That area is bad enough in a car, worse on a motorcycle, bad for bicycles, crap for pedestrians. The only benefit of a bicycle is you can hop into cross walks fast.
The entire layout is a kludge designed by primates.
Ped/BBike crossing over 101 to the Junior College makes sense. Don't expect anything until after it's widened, and then it'll be another 20 years after that.
@Shatter415 A Ped/BBike crossing over 101 to the JC just got approved by city council. (final design, funding's all there, etc). There's political games going on with city council making it look like it'll go away next Tuesday with the new city council.

OK....So the car squeezed you a bit there with that truck. Not much else going on here. The intersection is ominous, yes.
