I was a paperboy at Wullie Pate's shop. A great man, pity about Jeff... It's not the same anymore. Carrigan's and the Stonefield Tavern (Teddy's wasn't it?) were the pubs to go to. Been in both in the last year. Made me smile. Happy memories. Never Never was even on the radio when I walked in (The Assembly). How very apt. There was a lot of good people that I've lost contact with. All the best to every last one of you!
BTW, if you live abroad, they tore our school doon! BHS no more.

Great stuff Drew! A went tae the livies when auld Mr Aitken wis the janny and Mr Davis took us aw tae the Hamilton Baths oan a Wed efternin tae swim. A kin still remember payin thruppence fur the Saturday matinay at the Broadway then waiting ootside the chappel fur the scrammel when there was a wedding.
A didnae greet but a got the goosies. That wiz brillaint. Brought back many mamories of when a made ma way hame fae Davy Livies school tae Forrest St, and stopping tae talk tae auld Harry. (We lived above Jock Richardsons butchers). Thanks
Cathking's comments could have been mine. Miss my old Dad & Gran and the McGuire and Hunter families that have all now passed. None left in Blantyre that I know of. My Dad (a true character if ever there was one) swam for miles along the Clyde to get away from the coppers after being tumbled for nicking a couple of lumps of coal, circa 1930. Great song... had a good greet mahsel (sic). Thanks for posting.
Well Done, Reminded me of Blantyre when I was a Young Man, Now live in the South Of England, But manage to visit Blantyre nearly every year, persevere with the song writing, and good luck
Nice wee song, Reminds me of an old guy I use to pick up (taxi) every Tuesday night in Paisley and drop him off at Scotia bar, His name was Danny Kyle and very funny old guy, he use to say his pal was Billy Connolly and he played music with Gerry Rafferty !..
cheers for the comments man, good old danny kyle, and yeh he was very friendly wi big connoly,i never miss the danny kyle open stage at the celtic connection gigs in the concert hall throughout january every year.its worth a look and its free!!!
