The movies moves a little slow, but the make-up on the Blind Dead is truly creepy as are the scenes of them on horseback. (Don't ask where they got the horses from 'cause the movie doesn't say.) This film deserves some serious points for what happens at the end on a train. (Suffice to say, I'm a horror film fanatic and even I was a little disturbed.)
Oddly enough, some distributors in the US called the film "Revenge of the Planet Ape" to capitalize on the "Planet of the Apes" films.
In the Scene where 'a girl tried to run a flight of stairs to escape and then catches her shoe on a floor plank but narrowly escapes...', they copied this scene scenario in the 3rd of the blind dead film series Ghost Galeon(aka Ship of Zombies, or Horror of the Zombies)
@Morgethein If a movie is outdated, you can find plot holes. Its very possible. Although most movies back then really didn't have much of a budget anyway..
I have the out of print double sided DVD from Anchor Bay, Tombs Of The Blind Dead/Return Of The Blind Dead...and I have the AWESOME coffin shaped box of all four: Tombs, Return, The Ghost Galleon and Night Of The Seagulls, from Blue Underground. Awesome series. Armando De Ossorio RIP.
Alright, I'm not going to ruin this movie, but I have a few questions. How the fuck did the train start on its own. Why can't somebody open a door that they just finished latching shut without a lock. And where the hell do those horses always appear from? Those are the only faults to this movie. And yes, I have taken into consideration that this was made in 1971.
If your still looking for the Blind Dead movies,I would highly recommend the Blue Underground Box Set of all four movies. It comes in the shape of a black coffin and has English Dubbed and Spanish language with English subtitled options.
A virgin sacrificed?? haha that had 2 of been in tha 70's cuz they would be shit out of luck to find a virgin at that age in tha 2000's. i wonder if they would of still scarificed her if she performed oral??
I have the Anchor Bay DVD that I bought about 8 or 9 years ago, and it was in superb quality..subbed in English too! It also had the second film, "Return Of The Blind Dead" as an English dub.
ROTBD is a rare and quite unique film, and a very different take on the undead. Also, among horror films, it was, along with Paul Naschy's werewolf films, one of the first films to give Spain a true horror scene. Very nice makeup for the Templars also considering the limits of makeup in those days!
Great B. movie/Foreign film. I picked up a double feature DVD of Tombs Of The Blind Dead/Return Of The Blind Dead at a pawn shop. I'd never heard of it, but now I'm glad I bought it!
A horrible reign of terror, eh? That is the worst kind...

This is one of those great b movies that you could watch over and over again. These movies beat the ones you see on SyFy.

some of the best zombies you will ever see in a horror film, they even rival fulci's from Zimbie (didn't say they were better though).

Hell, I always thought THIS movie was even scarier than Night Of The Living Dead!

wow, usually in zombie movies, the zombies always have a goofy look about them but these, these are some seriously scary looking zombies!

B - goodness. I love how the templars rise from the grave as skeletons, but ride living horses that come out of nowhere.
