I have a very love/hate relationship with this soundtrack. This track is AWESOME, but the music for the tank chase is sooo AWEFUL. I think it's telling that they got david arnold to take over bond movies after eric serra. They even remade serra's bond theme for goldeneye too. Great movie though!!
They should've had an option in the new Goldeneye game for the Wii where you could hear the music from the scene that the level is based off of (if the scene in question is based on a scene from the movie, otherwise they should keep it the same).
the 'panpipe' noise can be recreated by down pitching a wood block/clave sound and adding lots of reverb (im convinced this is what Serra actually did)
I'm so glad to see there are other fans of this soundtrack... all I ever read online before the days of YouTube was how horrendous it was. Personally I'd hate to think what this movie would've been like with a David Arnold score, this just works so well!
Same I remember seeing this when I was a young lad, just watched the DVD of it a couple of hours ago- by FAR the best Bond movie, and Brosnan was by far the best 007
That strange "air drum" sound (can't think of a name for it), is badass. It was even on the N64 game. Whenever I hear that sound on any movie or game OST, I think of Goldeneye.
Hey EliteKillah117 i know that sound ur on about it really cool in fact that sound is used in in the videogame Just cause 2 when your doing missions, if theres one game that reminds me of Goldeneye its Just cause 2!, i think Eric serra is a fantastic composer, very stealthy mood music
I SWEAR! I LOVE THAT SOUND. Sounds like metal being tapped in such a perfect manner in order to achieve that sound. They have it in 95% of their songs in goldeneye. Movie and the awesome game.
@EliteKillah117 You love the metal sound, check out the PS3 game inFamous's soundtrack. It's very unique. The composers had to do things like smash windows on a car to produce the sound they needed, or bang on PVC Pipes.
This is good music to play while playing call of duty modern warfare 2 and the funny thing was when i was playing this music while playing the game i got two of the spy titles lol hahahaha
yes i am also a fan of the n64 music but this track has been such a favorite. i vote for mr. serra to do the next bond music. i wanna see how daniel craig fits with this type of sound
It would be awesome, i love the dirty eery music. Industrial music with a score is always good.
Obviously the background of the post cold war, sets up the music, but i'm sure a future bond would be good with eric's craftmanship.
I also think that the music would get alot better review with todays movie audiences. Alot of the 19-25 i know love the music of the Film, where i feel the older generations didnt find that it fitted with a Bond film
yeah that sound is really great- kind of foreboding and chilling. its a sound that could only exist with circuits but it gives me kind of a visceral feeling as a listener. the development of technology and its influence on our lives. this is especially a motif visible in the plot, and it happened literally to us who grew up playing the game.
@0HaRdLoCk0 You are absolutely right. I agree totally that the soundtrack and the composition to this movie set it apart from every other Bond Movie before it and after it. To me, it's THE Bond soundtrack because it's the one I grew up listening to. And about the N64 game, it was a masterpiece as well, Rare outdid themselves on the soundtracks for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
@0HaRdLoCk0 I have all the James Bond films and this has to be my second fav one (after a toss up between "From Russia with Love" & "Gold Finger"). I loved the music in this games bond, especially this one when 007 is actully sneaking. Soo cool
@0HaRdLoCk0 You honestly took the words right of my mouth. I feel like Serra created the music for not only the Goldeneye film, but for the game as well. And many games soon after Goldeneye started using those same sounds that Serra initially created.
And who cannot love that soft clanking noise? So addictive.
@spiderwebs7215 Graeme Norgate, Grant Kirkhope and Robin Beanland composed the music for GoldenEye 007 and Sierra's soundtrack as inspiration for it. And yes, the soft clanking noise is just so good!
No submarine, no gong. It is a distorted, slowed down and amplified tambourine sound. In case you don`t believe it: I`ve tried it and can tell you it is the truth.
This is VERY Éric Serra. Does anyone know what that kind of industrial sounding recurring sound effect he always has in the background, you can hear it in Léon and The Fifth Element as well. Almost like a giant metallic drum or something, what is it?

Yeah i know what you mean those metal songs are atmospheric cold and USSR-like, i dont know why i love them.. Its so Goldeneye-ish, they are even in the game
