I think it stinks that they cut out the scenes where alice and uncas made love in the cave ,it should have happened right after uncas grabbed her back away from the water fall . also they cut out where Hawkeye asked cora if she was going back to england and she said what for ? no one left there and then he asked her if she would be his wife . That would have been so cool to see all of this but no it ended up on the cutting room floor .

@phonelady61 Actually the love scene was never filmed, it was only in the script. There was a small kissing scene 'puppy love' that was left out in the editing.

well if you think about it she might have thought that she would be treated no better than an animal by magua and she was right . If you study history some indian tribes who stole white women were not very good to them and beat them and enslaved them . i mean look at how they tied them up and took them even though they were not fighting being taken and I think alice took her cue from cora and she did what Nathaniel told her to do . Stay alive . .

@dada92ize Hmm it is a question that's been debated a lot. I personally think she had feelings for Uncas, but was also confused and scared. For someone like Alice what she had been through had made her retreat into herself, which is why I think she clutched at Uncas' comfort in the waterfall scene. I think seeing him coming for her, fighting for her made her feelings stronger which made her want to be as brave as he was and also be with him in that last moment.

Also I don't think she thought her life was in immediate danger as up until that point she had not been threatened just lead along the path, so I don't think she really jumped out of pure fear. But perhaps she did think Uncas was also her last hope. It could have been a number of things that caused her to jump, her feelings for Uncas, not knowing what became of the others and her sister and the mental damage of seeing all the horrors of war and hatred. I could talk about thsi all day though haha

Eric Schweig said that they actually had a love scene at the falls that was cut from the movie. Someone didn't know what they were doing when they edited that scene out!

There was a love scene in the script but it was cut from filming as Jodhi May's mother did not like the idea, Jodhi was only 16 at the time. The scene was cut down to a kiss at the waterfall but this was cut from the final film. So yes, there is a scene of them kissing and actually a lot more scenes between them that were edited out in favour of the Hawkeye/Cora romance.

I am unsure if it would have been better to keep it in, many people like the lack of in your face love between these two.

Wow, this video is really beautiful! I love Alice and Uncas so much. I find their love so terribly tragic because they never really got the chance to be together. Everything that happened between them was so subtle during the movie.

Anyway, I almost cried watching this vid. You portrayed their feelings really well with the editing and your song choice was just amazing.
