The sound you hear at :15 is 3kHz - three kiloherz. The teen tone is usually above 12 or even 17 kHz.

I don't think that's a 15kHz tone. First of all, a 15kHz tone should be somewhere around a Bb (in whatever octave); the tone in the video seems to be G, although there's an overtone that might be 15kHz. It should be perfectly audible to most adults.

This is bullcrap. I spend a lot of time around frequencys in my work and although I can't give you the exact frequency the tone is at its definitely under 12khz (somewhere around 8khz mayber) therefore everyone of any age with reasonable hearing should be able to hear it.

If you want to test it yourself download a copy of Audacity for free and generate some tones yourself.

It was part of a sales promotion they had going on. IF you could identify where the had the mosquito ringtone...you could enter through their website and if you were one of the 1st thousand entries you get some rebates or something liek that. apparently over 11,000 entries were received by kfc within 3 hours. the narrowed their audience becoz the ringtone(due to its high frequency) cant be heard by most adults (aged 20 and over).
