I love the piano! Why destroy one? I've played piano for over 15 years and it's disheartening to see one get wrecked. Who would water a piano?.?.? The people who like this video probably can't play piano or any music in that matter. Even if it can't be repaired someone who can't affored a piano may want one.
As much negative feedback as it seems this video is getting, I've got to give my two cents. You'd think it's sacreligous, but I'm a piano technician, and if the tuner said it wasn't worth tuning - that means the piano was more or less worthless as a musical instrument. Pianos, like people, get old and fall apart and just stop working. And destroying a piano when their time has come, that is so way fun!!! C'mon, smashing things is fun and you know it!
i think it's ashame for the craftmanship, swet and love that goes into building such a well recognised beautiful instrument like the piano to get destroyed and treated like this. In tune or out of tune a piano can get repaired from any state costly of course- just like an old building. This could have been sold to a piano shop who would have repaired the instrument and let it live on.

I talked to a little boy at an orphanage about music, apparently he loved Brahms and Chopin but had no piano. A video about giving that boy an instrument would have been better.

Many old upright pianos are indeed junk and are not worth restoring, like Brambach, Stuyvessant, Winter, and many old spinnets. Just don't wreck name brand grands. I have scrapped about 75 pianos and restored about 12. Pianos have scrap iron, firewood, lumber, copper (strings) and lead (in the keys.) Ivory, ebony (sharps) and brass (pedals, capstans. Careful- uprights are back-side heavy and tip easily. Also, loosen the tension of the strings, cut them off, before breaking the plate.

Actually he is half right.. This was a player at some point, but was gutted of the player mechanism. It's pretty difficult to find a matching player mechanism to put into a gutted player like this, and if the piano sucked and was untuneable with cracks, not a real loss. There are tons of players left anyway. But I would recommend if u get a piano at goodwill intend to use it, or at least pass on it so someone who really wants it can buy it for music or repair it.
The world is full of unplayable pianos worth $50 that would cost $500 to get back into shape. If you've got the $500, you'll spend it on another piano. It was nice to see these three having $50 worth of fun with theirs.

i don't know why someone would do this to such a instrument. i am a luither and i know the amount of effort it takes to create such a thing. if it didn't stay in tune chances are the tuning pins were just loose, which is a very minor repair. at the very least you should of gave it away to someone who could of used it for parts.
I make guitars and restore furniture also. My wife is a concert pianist and granted that some pianos are beyond help, the cost is too much for what the end result will be, but there is a lot of high quality lumber in these pianos. I remill the ones that can't be saved and make bookcase, entertainment centers even a desk out of them and I give the actions, keys, harps and soundboards to a local piano restoration shop. Lumber prices being what they are its better than just burning the stuff.

funny the piano string did not snap you in the eye. i watched a movie when a girl was messing with a piano strings under the lid and snapped her in the eye a she bleed. so don't put an eye out should where safety glasses when you bust stuff. i broke an organ out of my old moldy farm house i busted it and i started it on fire the organ made a funny loud hum noise when i plugged it in. i burned it one nite and made a wicked looking fire i live on a farm ... it was full of mold and humanity

I make guitars and restore furniture also. My wife is a concert pianist and granted that some pianos are beyond help, the cost is too much for what the end result will be, but there is a lot of high quality lumber in these pianos. I remill the ones that can't be saved and make bookcase, entertainment centers even a desk out of them and I give the actions, keys, harps and soundboards to a local piano restoration shop. Lumber prices being what they are its better than just burning the stuff.

Hey, maybe you could suggest some uses for an old beat up piano that COULD NOT HOLD IT'S TUNE that would have been better. Maybe you could upload at least one video before making stupid comments, orwould you ratherlook at videos that almost show breasts all day?

funny the piano string did not snap you in the eye. i watched a movie when a girl was messing with a piano strings under the lid and snapped her in the eye a she bleed. so don't put an eye out should where safety glasses when you bust stuff. i broke an organ out of my old moldy farm house i busted it and i started it on fire the organ made a funny loud hum noise when i plugged it in. i burned it one nite and made a wicked looking fire i live on a farm ... it was full of mold and humanity
