  • Jerry Nelson has a great singing voice...that WAS him singing the hippy guy's part, wasn't it? Thanks for the great flashback!

  • Like it was YESTERDAY! Peace.

  • Who wants to bet there's a secret ingredient in those cookies? If you think it's love, you're RIGHT - there's a whole BAG of love in that batch!

  • I love this!!! I think the first time I saw this on youtube I was at my brothers house. Thast was before I became a member. What a great childhood memory this is.

  • thats one strung out muppet

  • This guy must be related to Little Chrissy.

  • Just plain awesome...Jim Henson sure had some great ideas when he created these characters.

  • i love the hippie :D

  • this is trippy!!!!

  • I like this guy better than Little Chrissie!

  • lol.. watch in the beginning how he almost puts the second cookie on top of the first cookie, and then catches himself. Too funny. It always creeps me out when the muppets have real, functioning hands [see barber on Super Grover haircut]. Obviously, they needed real hands to hold the cookies and whatnot, but still... *shudders*

And you can tell this is from early on cuz Cookie uses the word "I" instead of "Me".

  • Did you notice that Cookie Monster used proper grammar? Usually he just talks like "ME WANT COOKIE!"

  • Maybe Cookie Monster finds it easier to sing proper grammar than speak it? It does get him the cookies without a fuss!

  • I thought that was a crumby thing for Cookie to do, but I guess the other guy didn't mind.

  • Herry should have watched this to bone up for "The Addition Game".

  • "Johnny, where's your subtraction homework?"

    "Cookie Monster ate it."

  • Wow, it's Floyd Pepper's brother!

  • "Those look like sugar cookies."

"Of course they're sugar cookies. All cookies are sugar cookies. A cookie without sugar is a cracker!"

  • Wow, a Gary Gulman quote! Not too common 'round these parts.

  • Is that who it is? I just remember the quote from TV a couple of years ago.

  • I don't know...sugar to this beatnik muppet may mean something else. Poor Cookie Monster!

  • Best part is that when the hippies added one by one, CM subracted all four at once. Good thing they weren't brownies.

  • Funny how music is something we can learn from for life! TOTALLY GROOVY and OUTTA SIGHT for all the cool Kats out there! lol

  • Oh man, I was mouthing this song now as I was listening to it. I can't believe I remember most of the lyrics after all these years! Catchy tune, I must say.

  • Another swinging 3/4 pop masterpiece from Mr. Joe Raposo! Gotta say Joe totally threw down some blues on this one. HE DIDN'T COMPOSE DOWN TO CHILDREN, God bless him. Right awn.

  • His hat was out of sight.

  • lol xD

  • You're the MuppetPro; you tell us.

  • Music by New Addition.

  • Or is it 1970?

  • Looks like 1970 to me.

  • Was this 1971?

  • TV-E stands for "televisión española" or "spanish tv"; the public TV broadcasting system here at Spain. Here was a custom version of "sesame street" called "barrio sésamo"... the sound obviously isn't the original one. (The sketches was dubbed to spanish)

  • COokie Monster is cool! Had forgotten about this one till I saw it again. Great memories.

  • Far out man... I remember this... As I recall, much like I am now... I don't know waht to think about this muppet, he leaves me puzzled.

  • Muppet Hippies are Cool and Out of Sight!!!!!

I love it when Jim and the guys spoof the 60s and hipster life. ;) _Eric

  • I love the way the hippie seems a little dazed about the fact his cookies are gone, but not upset by it in the least, he just keeps on groovin'!

  • nice upload,i remember my older sister singing and dancing to this !! wow over 30 yrs now !

  • wow, that's a long time to be singing and dancing!!

  • Good for teaching adding and subtracting... also a good life lesson: Keep an eye on your cookies!

  • It has been a long time. Thanks a bunch.

  • TNX. I haven't seen this for ## years but I still have the Hebrew version of the song on a vinil record of "Rechov Sumsum" (The Israeli Sesame Street).

  • Jeez. I haven't seen this in like 25 years!! Thank you so much! But what is "E-TV"? Is that Europe?

  • It's been a long time since I've seen this. Really cool rythm to the song.

  • Awesome! The hippie should have known- if he's adding with cookies, you know Cookie Monster will be there to do the subtracting! :-)

  • oh my. Was androgynous funk hippie in anything else? The minute this started I knew I was in for a flashback, much thanks.

  • I hadn't seen this sketch, but I have seen the lyrics for this on Tiny Dancer's site, www.tinyd.com.

  • really cool! i love the hippie! :D

  • Rad!

  • wow i havent seen this years!!

  • Another great memory! I didn't get very far watching this before I remembered Cookie Monster's verse at the end, and I started laughing in anticipation!
