I love this!!! I think the first time I saw this on youtube I was at my brothers house. Thast was before I became a member. What a great childhood memory this is.
lol.. watch in the beginning how he almost puts the second cookie on top of the first cookie, and then catches himself. Too funny. It always creeps me out when the muppets have real, functioning hands [see barber on Super Grover haircut]. Obviously, they needed real hands to hold the cookies and whatnot, but still... *shudders*
And you can tell this is from early on cuz Cookie uses the word "I" instead of "Me".
Oh man, I was mouthing this song now as I was listening to it. I can't believe I remember most of the lyrics after all these years! Catchy tune, I must say.
Another swinging 3/4 pop masterpiece from Mr. Joe Raposo! Gotta say Joe totally threw down some blues on this one. HE DIDN'T COMPOSE DOWN TO CHILDREN, God bless him. Right awn.
TV-E stands for "televisión española" or "spanish tv"; the public TV broadcasting system here at Spain. Here was a custom version of "sesame street" called "barrio sésamo"... the sound obviously isn't the original one. (The sketches was dubbed to spanish)
TNX. I haven't seen this for ## years but I still have the Hebrew version of the song on a vinil record of "Rechov Sumsum" (The Israeli Sesame Street).
Another great memory! I didn't get very far watching this before I remembered Cookie Monster's verse at the end, and I started laughing in anticipation!
Jerry Nelson has a great singing voice...that WAS him singing the hippy guy's part, wasn't it? Thanks for the great flashback!

Who wants to bet there's a secret ingredient in those cookies? If you think it's love, you're RIGHT - there's a whole BAG of love in that batch!

Did you notice that Cookie Monster used proper grammar? Usually he just talks like "ME WANT COOKIE!"
piguy314159 4 years ago
Maybe Cookie Monster finds it easier to sing proper grammar than speak it? It does get him the cookies without a fuss!
PandaMishima 4 years ago
I thought that was a crumby thing for Cookie to do, but I guess the other guy didn't mind.

Herry should have watched this to bone up for "The Addition Game".

"Those look like sugar cookies."
"Of course they're sugar cookies. All cookies are sugar cookies. A cookie without sugar is a cracker!"

Wow, a Gary Gulman quote! Not too common 'round these parts.

Is that who it is? I just remember the quote from TV a couple of years ago.

I don't know...sugar to this beatnik muppet may mean something else. Poor Cookie Monster!

Best part is that when the hippies added one by one, CM subracted all four at once. Good thing they weren't brownies.

I love the way the hippie seems a little dazed about the fact his cookies are gone, but not upset by it in the least, he just keeps on groovin'!
