Everyone knows these peaceful protests only become violent when the police show up and start attacking people. Why is there a need to gain intellegence on protesters? The police now treat protesters like terrorists. What happened to our rights?

I think this woman is utterly stupid and is obviously only trying to get some free publicity for her group or is incredibly nieve. Police have used these tactics for years and it is the best way for them to get intel on groups or organisations. It is not a waste of money as the police's best intel comes from these methods to help protect you, the public! They may say they are a peaceful group but how is this known until someone from the inside is able to provide that sort of information!

@WinchesterRanger because informants would at risk. It has to be looked at in the terms of public interest. If someone was paying tax on money they earn through being an informant they would be at risk of being traced and leaves a paper trail to where they got the money from.

you may not believe me here but the police have a massive inteligence force that includes one HUGE inteligence database that is regularly updated with information from milkman, taxi drivers, bus drivers and other public workers.

We are secretly policed. That feeling of being watched that you get is because you are surrounded by moles that like to make you talk. Anything is considerred intelligence, they like to map people networks i.e friend groups at least

While there might ARGUABLY be justification for infiltrating violent & dangerous groups you would still have to question the motives for doing so given the history of Agent Provocateur & false flag operations carried out by police & Intelligence services.

If the police were trying to infiltrate a violent group of some kind (and not to act as provocateurs or plan false flags) then their actions could be justified but infiltrating a group of non-violent protesters is not good use of tax payers money and i'd certainly question their motives.
