Most things are explainable actually, it's just that people often don't like the answers. In this case there is absolutely nothing magical about it. The 'stick' is actually a metal rod inserted into the ground (or in this case probably has a square of metal under it to keep it balanced, as you notice the fake garden underneath), with a plate jutting out to the side that he sits on. It's small so with baggy clothing you can't see it.
