  • I love this woman. Perhaps the dislikes are about the quality of the video, as I cannot understand how someone could fault her dancing.

  • sylvie giullem came over to singapore for a talk just yesterday! :D it was amazing.

  • she doesn't look real!

    she's really the best :)

    <3

  • She inspires me- we can dream.

  • Unbelievable!

  • 31 people are jealous is all.

  • I love watching this clip so much, many thanks to the uploader... Sylvie is just a dream doing this variation.

  • The 31 dislikes are simply people who have found a dancer who is better than themselves. Simple as that.

  • The 31 dislikes are mental defectives, that's why.

  • Seriously, what is there to "dislike"?

  • 31 haters -_-

  • She's the best, and Yuan Tuan Tan, as well. :)

  • Golly, if only I had the feet...and the flexability...and the muscular strenght. Yup

  • what varoiation is this?

  • PERFECT GORGEOUS

  • She is past being a Dancer, she is now an Artist. People forget that dance is a form of art.

  • What's this variation called? thanks guys. message me if you know it.

  • @embitious This is the Queen of Dryads' variation from the Dream Scene (Act II) of "Don Quixote."

  • She is so lovely in classical roles.

  • Can someone tell me why there's always someone who comments on the dislikes? I mean 854378 views and you still comment on the dislikes, come on!

  • She is AMAZING. I am speechless. She is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lucky! :)

  • She makes everything look soooo effortless!

  • Simplemento bello!!!!

  • She is simply the BEST!!

  • why cant i like this 9374p1856468198465 times?

  • Faster than the camera!

  • SHE MAKES ME CRY!!!!!!! =')))))

  • So beautiful, delicate and eerie! I adore Sylvie Guillem!

  • i wish i could dance like this

  • nah gelsey kirkland is amazing :)

  • 30 people are blind.

  • Sylvie is a genius at placement,When she goes into the first part "glissade- a la secound devlopee " she'll raise her hip just a tad to complete a box split at almost 180 degrees .then when she gets to the Italian fuettees she keeps her hips squared (and impeccably turned out might I add ) gets the same height with her legs as the first devlopee sequins & presents them to the audience with her arms in second position.

  • I couldn't take my eyes off of this. She makes everything that she just did look so easy!

  • ahem excuse me can you make this video um how do you say it.... MORE HD?!?!?!? thanks :)

  • love her italian fouettes and the grande jette with the develope at the beggining. :)

  • she's good dancer, but not the best =))..zakharova is the bets ballet dancer in the whole world ))))

  • most favorite dancers 20 years ago: evdokimova, guerin, dupond, legris, bujones, cragun, loudieres, schaufuss, ferri, bussell, hilaire, cope and SYLVIE GUILLEM!

most favorite dancers today: vishneva, ossipova, ganio, lopatkina, kochetkova, sarafanov, hallberg, gomes, rademaker, watson, mckie, cojocaru, bolle and..... STILL SYLVIE GUILLEM!!!!!

  • 30 people wish they were the best ballerina ever.

  • sylvie is the stepford ballerinaa

  • Love her :)

  • Can someone tell me why -WHY?- 30 persons dislike?? She only danced, and she did it perfectly, there isn't a word for describe it!!!

  • @Malvy97 I disliked this video because the person who posted it is downright INSULTING technology by filming a screen. Crappy quality. How can you enjoy this video? If anything it is disrespectful to the dancer.

  • Comment removed

  • @EtrangerStranger We're talking about different things. I didn't even noticed that is a video of a video, but i only watched the ballet, and I think this isn't even the worst insult to a dancer. It can be an insult to technology, but not to a dancer.

  • @Malvy97 jealousy

  • @Malvy97 they dislike it because it was filmed off a TV screen

  • her feet are amazing O.O

  • @LeeAnnbabee How DARE YOU be so bloody rude.

  • @kimmois1 uhhh.... okay? lol :P i think she's beautiful <333

  • what a boring question you posted.. Don't you think it would be better simply to enjoy the performance, without asking whether it is the best ever or not??

  • she makes everything look like she's just chillin making a sandwich or something.

    god damn.

  • Does someone know his stature?

  • 29 people are crazy!

  • Unbelieveable!

  • she is amazing, flawless, she is one of the few who were actually born to dance ballet and were made for it

  • that is the most beautiful tutu i've ever seen

  • what year is this from approximately???

  • Which is his stature?

  • Is it true she started at 14? Because I'm 12 and just started and if she did start late that would be an inspiration.

  • @kata397533

svetlana zakharova is simply fantastic (as is sylvie). She never stole Sylvie's style!!

Sure they re similar but that does not mean she is copying her. She is her own person

  • @kfmcmahon

how true! they're compared because they have extraordinary skills, sylvie at her time, svetlana nowadays and both have extreme extensions. but they're both individual artists.

and by the way: how can you steal technique? either you have developed great technique or not but you can't choose one style and say: hey, i wan't this! where i was trained, a good technique was to be acquired through hard work.

  • The camera is to slow for the velocity. So beautiful.

  • Once England had the great ballerina Margaret Fontain.Acutally I became to know the baller on her outsatnding performances when I was only a child. This Sylvie is

the most excellent one since I saw Margaret. About Sylvie, what is her iconic peroformance? Would anyone tell me ?

  • @ilovetorachan Well try "Smoke" (part 3) by Mats Ek. You will wonder if it is the same person!

  • 28 people accidently missed the like button. :)

  • Suzanne Farrell is the best. She not only was technical, but she danced with "abandon" and emotion. Look her up. Wonderful!

  • Does her working leg hit the floor at all during that developpe to attitude derriere en tournant section? She's amazing.

  • It's like her leg is something she can detach and reattach like lego into various positions, so crazy.

  • AMAZING...

  • wow my ballet teacher is going to america to see sylvie guillem now! I think she is around 50 years old!

  • @bubblegum20001234567 she's only 45

  • @mmartunia1 do you know how dumb you sound? the tutu that she's wearing cost so much money and was specially made for her. and yes, those three ballerinas are super fantastic, but sylvie is equally as fantastic are you watching the same video as i am? ha, i would LOVE to see you try what sylvie is doing! ... oh and by the way... it's spelled Semionova you moron.

  • Its COMPLETELY flawless!

  • this video is very old. please include a good quality video. love her dancing

  • Thank you for posting this clip! Having danced this variation, (which the music is from Drigo/Adam/Minkus' Le Corsaire PDD), I know first hand how difficult those releve's are at the end. Ouch! My left calf hurts just remembering it! ;-) Cheers

  • Ela é muito perfeita ! Amo mt (:

  • oh my.

  • I don't like this type of tutu which has. It's ugly. But I think that Zakharova, Osipova, Seminova are much better than Sylvie

  • i m sure this comment has been made countless my times but

oh my god her a la second!!!!!

  • My God

  • ugh...i don't know that another video exists that makes me happier.

  • Sylvie is one of my favorite dancers!!!!!! She has PERFECT italian fouettes! (sp?)

  • shes amazing!

  • Nope sorry. She's amazing but the best ballerina in the world is SVETLANA ZAKHAROVA. She's the most perfect in style and technique, the most elegant, most graceful and beautiful.

  • @ballerina585 This is your opinion! Fine! Nonetheless it doesn't take or add anything from one ballerina to the other. Both are different, have different style and personalities! You don't like Sylvie Guillem, just don't look. You have got the choice that's more than the animals have!! Tous les goûts sont dans la nature!

  • amazing! BRAVO! her costume is beautiful too

  • the greatest of them all

  • she was made for ballet, im mean seriously this isnt fair for other girls who dance near/around/after her lol, she has amazing talent and is an outstanding ballet dancer

  • I would kill to be able to dance like this. I <3 Sylvie.

  • This is the gold standard of this variation.

  • one question; how?

  • Hey everyone! If you love ballet then please go to my page and click the link for my blog on the sidebar. My blog is all about ballet and my life as a dancer. Check it out!

  • who do you think is the best ballerina ever?

  • Ever...? Sylvie Guillem, cause she can do EVERYTHING.

  • @icarrus4u

    clearly, you know sylvie. :]

  • @icarrus4u

you've got things figured out quite well. kudos

  • @icarrus4u dont forget she can make slipping on stage look graceful

  • @icarrus4u

i think the best ballerina ever is Gelsey Kirkland. you should see her Giselle! it is out of this world!

  • @icarrus4u it's beautiful and ill never be able to do better

but i've seen better technique than that

  • @MissFhey Probably Pierina Legnani. I personally have a lot of admiration for Carlotta Brianza also.

  • @MissFhey hmm? maybe Natalja Bessmertnova? :)

  • @MissFhey Anna Sobeshchanskaya. My choice. She was a real prima donna. She was THE ballet dancer of the time. She was so important that whole ballets and the music was altered just to suit her. A whole pas de deux had to be written in Swan Lake just for Mme Sobeshchanskaya. She was the original ballerina in many well know ballets such as Don Quixote and Swan Lake. Zakharova and Gulliem are never anywhere near this class.

  • @MissFhey There are lots. Anna Sobeshchanskaya is possibly the best. After all, Swan Lake had to be re-wriiten just for her, and she was the original Kitri.

Avdotia Istomina is another candidate. She is even described in famous Russian literature like Eugene Onegin. Several men died duelling for her heart. There were four duels in one day just for her. I doubt Sylvie or Svetlana had this deadly attraction.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger ...you might have your personal opinion but, I'm actually glad that nobody killed himself for any of the 2. I'm actually glad that with time those fullish and ridiculous drama scenes are far behind. I believe that you don't need to kill just to prove your love, must be so not aware on how precious this life is. And I'm sure that none of the 2 would feel any better carring the tremendous guilt of someone's death. Ridiculous..

  • @MissFhey me

  • Those Italian Fouettes are out of the realm!!!!!

  • unlike svetlana zakharova, whose technical style is similar to Sylvie's (aka stealing), i can truly see Sylvie pour her heart out when she's dancing. go sylvie!!!

  • Do you honestly think Svetlana is "stealing" from Slyvie... I don't think so. They are two different styles completely. Both original.

  • Actually, a lot of critics compare Svetlana to Sylvie. Svetlana even admits it herself in some interviews. BTW, that was just my opinion.

  • They have certains features that can be similar: long legs, super beautiful cou de pied etc

But their style is completely different. Svetlana is a pure russian style and Sylvie is french (and not always so pure). Watch out their port de bras: there's nothing in common.

  • @icarrus4u What I think is meant by "stealing" is the similarity of showing off their over-the-top veritical extensions and feet that are like hands! Also, both are "tutu" ballerina (e.g., Sleeping Beauty, LeCorsaire (which this is the solo BTW) and La Bayadere. Yet, I agree both are different styles artistically.

  • @icarrus4u MrsSmith152 It isn't the question of "stealing", but Sylvie with her extraordinary flexibility and extension created new style, and now every ballerina tryes to dance wide and with great amplitude of movements. Sylvie was the first in that. But her artistry is uncomparable of course!

  • @icarrus4u

    i completley agree with you

both beautiful dancers pouring there heart out and she is in no way stealing

i see two very different things when i watch each and the both make it impossible to stop watching them dance

  • @icarrus4u

yeah, svetlana looks like she's in pain and really straining herself in even her most joyous roles. sylvie is just effortless. you can't even make criticisms about her dancing, you can only feel the emotion of her character.

  • @Kata397533

Svetlana has gorgeous technique, but it's very different from Sylvie's. I don't think you can really steal technique, anyway. But I agree about Sylvie pouring her heart into her dancing. Her Kitri blows my mind.

  • @Kata397533 I don't think she is "stealing". They may have similar ways to use their bodies but Sylvie has so much more "fire" and artistry!

  • @Kata397533 I love guillems dancing more than Zakharovas, but I dont think Zakarova is stealing. Both have awesome technique, but Guillem has a lot more than technique, Thats why I can never take my eyes off her when shes dancing.

  • @Kata397533 I love guillems dancing more than Zakharovas, but I dont think Zakarova is stealing. Both have awesome technique, but Guillem has a lot more than technique, Thats why I can never take my eyes off her when shes dancing.

  • @Kata397533 How is zakharova's technical style 'stealing'? both sylvie guillem and svetlana have very different styles, and in my opinion Svetlana is better than sylvie!

  • not true about the stealing part.

  • @Kata397533

You can't really "steal" a style of dancing...

  • @Kata397533 i totally agree

  • @Kata397533 i totally agree that she dances with the heart and 100% effort EACH time

  • @Kata397533 no offense but since you can't dance like either of them its better sometimes to just not say anything.

  • @Kata397533 she stronger, but still svetlana zakharova the best.

  • @Kata397533 No two dancers are the same... Svetlana isn't stealing anything.

  • I love the Paris Opera tutus. Does anyone know where I can get an old one that on one uses anymore?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for being the inspiration we all need sylvie :D

  • omg

she makes me want to give up and get out there and do ballet at the same time lol

  • very flexible ;) x

  • Hmm...this variation is from Don Q and pretty sure thats not sylvie guillem....

  • She is exquisite! Such an inspiration...

  • She's been so blessed. As many have said, of course, she is a showcase of ballets beauty.

  • excellent dancer , the best

  • Maravillosamente unica, que perfecion, que extenciones, presencia, suavidad y a la vez fortaleza,,,, gracias por esta diva del ballet

  • She is the ideal ballerina; timing, placement, extension, stage presence, etc. She can re-inspire the oldest ballerina back to the barre.

  • She's not even human!!!!!!!!!!! She can't be shes so perfect!

  • My God..!!! she's Perfect!!!!!!!!

  • she's gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!

  • Isn't this variation also in DQ?

  • she just understands placement so well ,

  • she started out as a gymnast before she was a ballerina, which explains her astounding flexibility

  • amazing extensions and flexibility.....

  • OMG, this is unreal

  • my gosh! she's so good!

  • breathtaking.

  • best queen of the dryads iver ever seeeennn =)

  • the same dance with dq?

  • I like that she actually does a real jeté in this; so many dancers just do a sort of glorified glissade.

  • she is so beautiful

  • spettacolare...ma è don quijote..nn è le corsaire...
