I've got a little question: Which graphic card do u guys advice me? I'm a hardcore gamer and I was thinking of one around 150€-200€. Maybe a GTX 260 or an Ati HD 5770, I don't know. PLease help me.
Not impressed so far. Waiting for ages to upgrade my second PC as I like to have a dual manufacturer strategy> First they nearly melted down the 295 I had in the card a few weeks ago during the crap NVidia driver release. Now it looks like the new cards are not going to meet expectations (when you engage the manufacturer BS filter watching the pre release material)
Read in maxim pc that it will run faster than ati's 5800's and 5970 but it will run hotter and cost alot more .AND that final products will be selling in the middle of this year or later . Bought 2 5850's sapphires and they perform great but the only bad problem is thats there to many bugs in the software . Never had problems with nvidia . Maybe ati will have better software by then .... not a fan boy of none just look for better performance .
The final cards (Nvidia 480) are here, but they still can't knock the ATI 5970 of the top slot for fastest card on the market, so where ever you got your facts (run faster than ati's 5800's and 5970), they are wrong.
well if you read maximum pc magazine thats were i read it . They were interviewing one of nvidias guys and thats what they were saying. Go to there website and you will see what i read. but your right not the 5970 but it will be better than the 5870 so nvidia says .
oh and the Big difference between dx10 and dx11 is Tesselation, GF100 Chips were designed to be around 30% faster than those of the ati chip with 16 individual ts engines :) .

It's not unstable at all lol, it's buffers were simply slightly bigger than those of the ATI's, thus allowing them to create more transistors which is what a Processor of any kind is all about. If there was an issue,then how come they're already unveiling it in 3 weeks? and even better,how come the Video card's already been MADE and its on mass production?Unlike the 5970 which somehow you"can't"buy, ATI really is desperate.

1 year? Nvidia never set a release date for the new fermi video cards lol.. Not even now. They've simply been talking about the existing project that doesn't mean that it's "delayed", it's a work in progress. To me Both the 5870 and the GTX 480 will have come out at their respective times according to their technologies.
PS - Nvidia has not set up a release date for the card yet, though they did say that on the 26th they'll unveil it to the world (it's not the one in this vid, this is a tesla)

The fact is, Nvidia is having lots of issues with this chip - heat, size, power and inefficiency which translates into low yields .. I bet you wont be able to get one until at least end of Q2-Q3

the GT100 didnt translate well on the TSMC 40nm process . nVidia are having very low yield issues with this chip. ATI did their homework and designed their chip around these issues.
the 480/470 are going to be extremely rare chips and even if you can get your hands on them they are not going to perform the way you think they will (maybe 5-10% faster then 5870)
@umageddon First off if you know Anything about buffers you should know that No video card company makes'em lol, it was an Issue (as stated int his video) by the people in charge of making the boards (taiwan semiconductor manufactoring company) also, ATI also had their issues at first just like nvidia, they were both resolved =) . At this moment many ati cards have yield issues as well and capacity constraints, but they didnt care, they just sold, not nvidia. Nvidia takes care of their customers

After being with Nvidia for nearly 3 years now it really does feel as though they do very little homework in terms of "fixing issues." Problems inherent with ATI setups when COD World at War was released seem to have made its way to Battlefield Bad Company 2. The new Chips may be very rare... but when I can get my hands on one I will either be selling my 4870x2 or burning it.... (I guess all i have to do is reinstall the stock fan and it would burn itself i guess.)

Well it depends on your PSU (powersupply) and the rest of your system. 'What' other stuffs do you intend to buy? If you already have a complete PC (not much older than 5 years) with no big extra periphery (like a big watercooling system with 2 pumps) and don't intend to use a second grafic card, a 500 Watt or more PSU should be enough.

As you can see if you checked out google with my modell number, it is a Silverstone Strider with 560 Watt (it's written on mine). This 220 something is perhaps the amount of your AC INPUT volt (depends on the country you live in).

Second ALL games use Havok physx not Nvidia, Havok is software rendered. Nvidia Physx is a gimmick that no devs support, they arent going to make a game playable by half the video cards. Almost all video cards support physx.

C'mon,man,dont be like that...thers a list of games in the nvidia site, but just to give u some examples, gears of war, UT3, dark void, mass effect 1, and lots more, but many of them use only software mode(like havok) so you can run those games, even with an ATI! didnt you play Batman Arkham Asylum? it ran on physX by nVidia, to calculate all physics, but if you had an nVidia with PhysX enabled, you could get more particles, and objects that you dont see with PhysX disabled...
Also, the list of games is still increasing, and havoc is a lot older, so there are lots more games with havoc than PhysX...But if you are talking about games that actually use hardware PhysX, well, there arent many, but Batman AA is one of them, but check the nvidia site, and youll see that PhysX, as a software physics engine, is used in lots, and lots of games...
I play all games at 1680*1050 any AA about 4x makes no difference to visuals at that resolution. Some even say 2x AA but just to be safe i'll say 4x. So 32x AA is pointless.

If you saw the GF100 presentations, you'll know that it will be faster than the 5970 because the 5970 wont be 2x the 5870 and the GF100 is 2-6x the 5870, depending on what you're comparing... also, you can't really do a comparison between a dual gpu card and a single gpu card, that would be the same as you comparing a pentium 4 to a dual core, it's just not in the same category.
Presentations dont show you anything, I did and I encourage you to do some research the unigine benchmark isnt as high as you may think. 2-6x faster than 5870? absolutely not what is 2x faster? 100 fps x2 = 200fps ?

I'm being skeptical since they havent released any benchmark comparison scores yet. If its a clear winner they would have announced it months in advance like they have done with last releases. They only showed tesselation new vs old cards.
Presentations do show you something, no1 gave me that idea, and taking Unigine benchmark as the solo test just makes you a moron... they did present a bunch of benchmarks on the presentation and it IS 2-6x faster.. so YOU should do that research.

Comparing the prices of the 5970 £540 and 295 £408 the 5970 can just bearly beat a 295 by about 10-20fps better. To be honest thats a fecking joke this is ATI's new card and a 1 year old 295 card can keep up! ATI have the mid range covered completley with the 5850 and 5870 nothing touchs them except the 295. After being with Nvidia for nearly 3 years now it really does feel as though they do very little homework in terms of "fixing issues." Problems inherent with ATI setups when COD World at War was released seem to have made its way to Battlefield Bad Company 2. The new Chips may be very rare... but when I can get my hands on one I will either be selling my 4870x2 or burning it.... (I guess all i have to do is reinstall the stock fan and it would burn itself i guess.)

Well it depends on your PSU (powersupply) and the rest of your system. 'What' other stuffs do you intend to buy? If you already have a complete PC (not much older than 5 years) with no big extra periphery (like a big watercooling system with 2 pumps) and don't intend to use a second grafic card, a 500 Watt or more PSU should be enough.

Well actually it must be written on it... or you check your PSU modell number and google for it.
For Example mine:
'MODEL NO: SST-ST56F
560 WATT POWER SUPPLY W/PFC'
As you can see if you checked out google with my modell number, it is a Silverstone Strider with 560 Watt (it's written on mine). This 220 something is perhaps the amount of your AC INPUT volt (depends on the country you live in).

Second ALL games use Havok physx not Nvidia, Havok is software rendered. Nvidia Physx is a gimmick that no devs support, they arent going to make a game playable by half the video cards. Almost all video cards support physx.

C'mon,man,dont be like that...thers a list of games in the nvidia site, but just to give u some examples, gears of war, UT3, dark void, mass effect 1, and lots more, but many of them use only software mode(like havok) so you can run those games, even with an ATI! didnt you play Batman Arkham Asylum? it ran on physX by nVidia, to calculate all physics, but if you had an nVidia with PhysX enabled, you could get more particles, and objects that you dont see with PhysX disabled...

Also, the list of games is still increasing, and havoc is a lot older, so there are lots more games with havoc than PhysX...But if you are talking about games that actually use hardware PhysX, well, there arent many, but Batman AA is one of them, but check the nvidia site, and youll see that PhysX, as a software physics engine, is used in lots, and lots of games...

I play all games at 1680*1050 any AA about 4x makes no difference to visuals at that resolution. Some even say 2x AA but just to be safe i'll say 4x. So 32x AA is pointless.

If you saw the GF100 presentations, you'll know that it will be faster than the 5970 because the 5970 wont be 2x the 5870 and the GF100 is 2-6x the 5870, depending on what you're comparing... also, you can't really do a comparison between a dual gpu card and a single gpu card, that would be the same as you comparing a pentium 4 to a dual core, it's just not in the same category.

I'm being skeptical since they havent released any benchmark comparison scores yet. If its a clear winner they would have announced it months in advance like they have done with last releases. They only showed tesselation new vs old cards.

lol, Nvidia fanboys, ATi fanboys, jeez, all things in existance that compare to each other, eg, Nvidia and ATi have their strengths, and their flaws. ATi has better performance, Nvidia has more reliable drivers, ATi is much more energy efficient, Nvidia uses about 30-40 % more power.
Both brands are great, and produce great shit, just agree that they are both as good as each other!
ps, atm ATi has best performance, but this one here, will shit on the 5970

Comparing the prices of the 5970 £540 and 295 £408 the 5970 can just bearly beat a 295 by about 10-20fps better. To be honest thats a fecking joke this is ATI's new card and a 1 year old 295 card can keep up! ATI have the mid range covered completley with the 5850 and 5870 nothing touchs them except the 295. So if a 295 can keep up then these new cards well destroy them! But Nvidia are going to have to pull a magic rabbit out of the bag and do something special! otherwise it's ATI>Nvidia!

Releasing there best 5XXX cards and cards over 1 year old can just bearly get whiped don't say much for ATI.
