@namybot I'd like the ZR1 actually. I'm not American by the way. I just like the fact it has a manual box and a supercharger, I've this soft spot for superchargers. Not to say I wouldn't want a 458 though.
@namybot Well the Ferrari would be complete really with a stick shift. Flappy paddles just takes out the funfrom the activity. Well I'm not a fan of turbos, superchargers have that whine and that surge. Turbos are great but lag somewhat irritates me a lot. The Ferrari F430 is one proper Ferrari with a manul stick shift. One thing though that makes me doubt Ferraris a lot is that before they supply editors and journalists with their test cars, they tend to spike up the performance and power.
@rvind92g Well the funny thing about that is that I *did* watch the LFA lap, expecting it to sound better, what with the exhaust having been tuned by Yamaha...but sure enough, the Ferrari is the one that sounds like an Formula 1 car.
@wilsondunlap Well when I first heard the LFA, I had no idea that it Yamaha co-developed the engine too. It sounds like a Porsche Carrera GT but with more urgent kind of note. The 458 sounds nice too but I prefer the LFA though.

I bashed Corvettes too for putting Michelin Sport PS2 tires just to get better handling and grip, but Ive done my research. Those tires come in quite a few supercars now.

Can't remember what colour it was now I looked at a couple. But the customer service over here is awful, it's LHD only, they're too uncomfortable, gearbox is horrible, don't drive very well and the depreciation is too steep. Looking back I'm glad I didn't, I'm glad I haven't bought a lot of cars I went through phases of liking. But, so what?

Next time I see either I'll measure them because Wikipedia is letting you down. One showroom I was at had a black 458 and a Corvette GS next to each other in a valet bay and the Corvette was visibly wider, and then there's the tyres.

i say this because all track cars drive bad and if you drove on racetracks you would know this. ferrari's are great cars but aren't designed for track duty(maybe a few laps) they are comfortable in stock trim but aren't built for the rigors of track use. the ferrari needs even more mods to race than the z06 in stock trim. the z06 is the most tracked car there is because it's cheaper to modify, has many race ready components, and can take more punishment period.
the z06 your talking about was a 2007 z06 the car has been vastly improved since then. the vette is a rough ride but so are most track oriented cars ie gt2 gt3 and even the scuderia rides harder than an 430. the point i've made consistantly is that the vette is the best performance car for the money and is practicaly ready to track from the dealership. the reliability of the tranny and engine is astonishing.

It is absolutely bulletproof while revving to 7k rpm and achieves fuel mileage that those tiny Ferrari V8s can never achieve. Ever see the Top Gear where Clarkson starts from a standstill in the Z06 in 5th gear and goes all the way to 160 mph?
well this track is a hard track whit lot of curve so the ferrari have one of the best tech here but fall behind the corvette whit push rod engine.so I think tech. don't make difference a all, vette has pedal clutch and the others a advanced trans. whit shift in the steering wheel so the corvette deserve the 1 place

im a duel citizen of italy and the usa so i like the yellow car and i agree with you on the engineering but for 300G it better be good. the corvette has more torque which is an advantage at a track like LS. when it comes to durability and reliability the high tech ferrari is a liability on the track and is prone to break down. any ferrari mechanic will tell you this. the vettes 7.0 is pretty advanced for being a pushrod and it it can be flogged all day at the track without malfuction.

I like TT i'm not too keen on Superchargers i think they are too lazy, to much of a Surge more than a punch in the back the TTs give.
More than anything i would take natural aspiration engine because the power starts soon as you pout your foot down, no lag or interruption.

@wilsondunlap Well when I first heard the LFA, I had no idea that it Yamaha co-developed the engine too. It sounds like a Porsche Carrera GT but with more urgent kind of note. The 458 sounds nice too but I prefer the LFA though.

@itchytasty100 Everyone else uses normal tires! Corvette had to resort to near slicks to achive those times you cannot deny that! They could not build or improve the Corvette times without using those race compound tires! If everyone else used normal street tires why didn't the Corvette have normal street tires and not race compound specially made for the track! Because the time would have been around the same as before the 1:37.40 maybe 1:36.9 but it would have been slower no matter what!

Michelin Super Sport tires would only make a difference of 1 to 1.5 sec max over Z06 standard Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G2 tires.

@rforracing First off the GT3 RS and Z06 tires are the same in a way but the Z06 are much bigger and have less traction on them go look them up at tirerack dot com! Same but totally different in tread... And do you really think we are all stupid? PTM so they designed a WHOLE new T/C system for the 2011 and then went BACK to the PTM for the 2012? Oh yeah right! Spend money on a NEW system then go back to THE OLD system! Corvette talk such BS! You don't spend money when you already have TC system!

@sw1000xg You're also forgetting that 2012 Z06 comes with the Performance Traction Management, 2011 model didnt have that. So its not only the tires that account for the faster time.
I bashed Corvettes too for putting Michelin Sport PS2 tires just to get better handling and grip, but Ive done my research. Those tires come in quite a few supercars now.

And this is what you fan boys need to remember that this is the only car with that power and those specially adapted tires! NO-ONE else is used so race focused tires! AND that's the only thing giving it the edge! 1:37.40 on Eagle F1 tires compared to 1:34 on race tires is pathetic!

@mtross70 I'm amazed you found that, and yeah I did for a month or so. At the time it seemed like a tempting buy and a bit of a novelty where I live. Can't remember what colour it was now I looked at a couple. But the customer service over here is awful, it's LHD only, they're too uncomfortable, gearbox is horrible, don't drive very well and the depreciation is too steep. Looking back I'm glad I didn't, I'm glad I haven't bought a lot of cars I went through phases of liking. But, so what?

Next time I see either I'll measure them because Wikipedia is letting you down. One showroom I was at had a black 458 and a Corvette GS next to each other in a valet bay and the Corvette was visibly wider, and then there's the tyres.
And don't try and look all hard on the internet, there's nothing sadder than that. If the Vette was designed for the track it would have sports seats, wouldn't have run flat tyres, wouldn't have a ladder chassis, wouldn't have leaf springs. It's cut price garbage.

What's more you keep bringing up these lap times yet the Corvette ranked 6th in this very test, behind even a Mustang. A Mustang is even better than a Z06 now. 458 Italia won first place and in Motor Trends write up which you can find by typing it in on Google and they all agreed it was the best car they've ever driven, best by miles.

i say this because all track cars drive bad and if you drove on racetracks you would know this. ferrari's are great cars but aren't designed for track duty(maybe a few laps) they are comfortable in stock trim but aren't built for the rigors of track use. the ferrari needs even more mods to race than the z06 in stock trim. the z06 is the most tracked car there is because it's cheaper to modify, has many race ready components, and can take more punishment period.

the z06 your talking about was a 2007 z06 the car has been vastly improved since then. the vette is a rough ride but so are most track oriented cars ie gt2 gt3 and even the scuderia rides harder than an 430. the point i've made consistantly is that the vette is the best performance car for the money and is practicaly ready to track from the dealership. the reliability of the tranny and engine is astonishing.

We're just going round in circles. You keep saying the Vette is the best track car for the money yet you'd have to gut the interior of it's seats too and then deactivate your airbags and lose your warranty since they offer no lateral support.

well your info on this corvette with the z07 package is dead wrong. you always state how wide the vette is but what you don't know is the 458 is wider than the vette so I don't have much faith in your facts. look i've put a lot of money in my vette but the best thing about it is it's paid for and i don't owe a dime on it. I voided that warranty along time ago buddy and I can work on the car and i have. the godamn thing will fly and outside of swapping the clutch out i've never had problems.

@tranceboyification Though there are a few things that are very impressive about the vettes big old 7.0 liter pushrod V8. It is absolutely bulletproof while revving to 7k rpm and achieves fuel mileage that those tiny Ferrari V8s can never achieve. Ever see the Top Gear where Clarkson starts from a standstill in the Z06 in 5th gear and goes all the way to 160 mph?

well this track is a hard track whit lot of curve so the ferrari have one of the best tech here but fall behind the corvette whit push rod engine.so I think tech. don't make difference a all, vette has pedal clutch and the others a advanced trans. whit shift in the steering wheel so the corvette deserve the 1 place

im a duel citizen of italy and the usa so i like the yellow car and i agree with you on the engineering but for 300G it better be good. the corvette has more torque which is an advantage at a track like LS. when it comes to durability and reliability the high tech ferrari is a liability on the track and is prone to break down. any ferrari mechanic will tell you this. the vettes 7.0 is pretty advanced for being a pushrod and it it can be flogged all day at the track without malfuction.
