I've learned a lot from watching your vids. Now all I have to do is to get my Asian wife to a) eat American style foods, and b) get her to cook it now and then. She is an okay cook, but I get SERIOUSLY tired of Asian cooking after a while. Anyway, I bet your family has few complaints about what they eat.
Awesome recipe wish I could make it though. Mom doesn't really like to fry since she lost a lot of weight we really can't have much fried things :( looks sooo yummy! But anyway I wanted to know if you could make a video showing your house. :)
How can you tell when the chicken is done?I cooked some very thin breasts and they got a little crisp.I am guessing they only needed a few mins on each side? They were good still, but a little dark on the outside. Also, if you don't have a thermometer,is there a way to tell if the oil is hot enough or too hot before you add the chicken to the pan?Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I am a beginner :)
@MPartyKitten Your questions are great! Thin chicken breasts will cook quickly, so you only need to have them in the skillet for about 20-25 minutes. Thicker pieces take longer. I turn them a few times during cooking, and most chicken pieces will be done, but not overdone in 30-35 minutes. If you are worried about them, choose the largest piece, and cut down to the center with a knife, and if there is any pink showing, keep cooking the whole batch. Using a knife allows juice to escape, though.
@bettyskitchen (cont.) When you are heating your oil, after a minute or two sprinkle just a tiny bit of flour in to see if it sizzles. If it doesn't sizzle, let the oil continue to heat, and try again.
My mom is a neat freak so there was no way my mother would allow me to cook anything fried but after watching your video my mother said its ok only if i am clean just like u were in your instruction video
Hi Miss Betty. When frying chicken, whats the difference when frying with self rising flour opposed to all purpose flour?? My fried chicken doesnt have the crispy outside that I'd like it to have. I've read that frying with self-rising flour makes the chicken crispy. What are your thoughts??
Betty, you have totally changed my perspective on cooking. I used to hate it because I wasn't good at it--I'd just make a mess and get frustrated at my odd-tasting results. But even since I discovered your channel and simple, easy-to-follow recipes, I can't stay out of the kitchen! I just made this chicken for dinner and it was finger-licking good! Thank you so much for the recipe and all of your other videos. I plan to purchase your cookbooks soon!
When you put your chicken in the powder stuff it's actually way easier when you put the powder stuff on a big plate... you put the chicken in, swirl around and done.. much easier
@bettyskitchen WOW, that was the quickest response ever! haha, i like your recipes, this recipe actually looks alot like one of my mom's recipes. She only used white fish instead of chicken! it's soooo nice
Dear Betty: As all your videos it is wonderful and I get so hungry looking at them even though it is almost 9 PM at night. Well, back to some more of your wonderful creations that I appreciate so much.
Hey this is cool, i have saved this and will refer to it. Obviously you are from Kentucky the home of southern fried chicken which i absolutely cannot get enough of. I am going to make myself some of this. I never felt so hungry watching this omg!!
How do you make those beans Betty? No doubt you have lots of recipes on here but i looked through them for southern fried chicken WOW!! Let me know about those beans message me or something. Thanks Betty Love your Channel.
@laurysocheerful Yes, I pour leftover oil in a glass jar (like a clean mayonnaise jar that has a screw top lid), and I refrigerate it until I need it again. When it starts to have some debris, or if I've fried something with a strong flavor (like fish), I throw it out.
I tried this recipe a couple weeks ago because I couldn't figure out how to make a tasty crunchy breaded chicken. It turned out FANTASTIC and soo delicious. It's not one of my favorite recipes!! Thanks for making this video
