I have a freeloader. It works fine with the japanese Brawl but I have always problems with GC games. Some GC games won't work at all and some others work but in 50Hz and with a big black line at the bottom of the screen.

My Wii is a PAL console with 3.0E firmware and 60Hz display.

Did it have that widescreen on the GCN? It's been so long since I played RE4 that I can't remember.

I got my freeloader this morning, but my Brawl hasn't arrived yet so I tested it on my US RE4 and I kinda freaked when I saw that letter box view....but was it always like that?

GC version was always letterboxed, as far as I know (I believe Capcom said at the time it was to make it more cinematic). The Wii version supports proper widescreen.
