I'm a male teenager with a similar range to Patrick. About 3 strong octaves. Patrick stepped into FOB and when he began singing he had no vocal training whatsoever and as far as I know, he hasn't lessons yet.

If you have a guitar, play the fifth fret on the high E string. Now belt that note. Now imagine doing that repeatedly while singing lyrics and managing vibrato and pinch. Now do that for 45 minutes to an hour and 45 minutes every fucking day at least 4 days a week.

Wentz is one of the most talented lyricists of our generation and in terms of business/ marketing- forget about it he's a genius. But in terms of bass playing, much is left to be desired. I came into Fall Out Boy in late 2007/early 2008 and I was too young to care much about music, but I loved "Thnks fr th Mmrs" and consequently a lot more FOB songs.
