When I was a screener, we weren't trained to look for bomb PARTS. We were trained to look for all the parts that make up a bomb. The blasting cap, the clock, detonator, explosive and/or fuse. Do you know how many bags would have to be opened every time we saw a cell phone in a piece of luggage? A cell phone you say? Well, a cell phone CAN BE USED as part of a bomb. Det cord? Those same law requirements are are the same for uniformed police officers. I feel that TSOs should be sent to FLETC instead of getting only localized training at airports. Training at FLETC would probably weed out trainees that couldn't hack it at the airport.

TSA actually hires folks who don't have a high school diploma, and that is a problem. A high education is free, so therefore it should be required. I also feel that TSA should up their standards. In order to become a TSA TSO he or she must be able to obtain secret level clearance. That alone would weed out most of the folks who apply.
