Hi! Dear friend Janice. How are you? I stopped on your beautiful Channel to say Hi! And wish you a marvelous and bless weekend. The violin is one of the most perfect instrument, I like it!
Is it ever too late to learn how to play Janice? Please be honest... My favorite instrument, I love Loreena McKennitt and enjoy watching her video's and listening to her music, I am really drawn to any music with the violin, even Christina Perri or Pink, Auguliera, they are all starting to use violins.... Hmmm
@rockhoundmaiden Hello, thanks for asking! I have taught hundreds of adults to play violin from scratch, and they learn to play well at advanced levels. If you are interested in learning to play violin, or know of anyone, I would check for teachers at local music schools and music stores, and adult centers. Google searching for violin teachers in a specific area can produce links to very fine teachers. Violin is more popular than ever, and students do tell me it's easier than they thought!
@jtrstrings Thank You Janice. I really would love to learn, I will google some info for my area here and will keep you posted with my progress. Blessings, Judi
@rockhoundmaiden NEVER too late! Don't get intimidated. I just started violin and my teacher told me what a child learns in 6 months an adult (with constant training and DETERMINATION! >:D) could learn in 2-3 months.
You're an excellent teacher. Your videos make me want to start learning violin. I know how to play the guitar; so I hope it makes the learning process for violin less painful.
Hello, your videos are wonderful! My daughter is studying viola (last year it was violin) and she will benefit greatly from your tutorials. Thank you!
Janice you are so generous to give your time to learning and making Music.Im honoured by your comment on The little Boy Called Joe.I have some Guitar easy to look at and Learn chords, and i will be posting them soon to try and encourage young and old to play,i admire your patience and Skills .and i will learn from you also.Happy New Year to you and yours.
What a perfect balance, and a great way to present how to hold the bow violin, never heard it as you defined. I bet you're a fantastic teacher, not mentioned a extraordinary musician. Congratulations!
In my studio, students learn the bow hold very quickly using the Bow Hold Buddies[tm] bow accessory. The accessory keeps the hand relaxed and fingers in place while we learn more music.
Dear Janice, what really make me surprised about this lesson...is the fact I found in it a sort of "balance" concept on moving the pencil and the bow....anyway how useful is to make proofs with the pencil....:-)

Magic fingers you have but I don't think I could do it....
I'm used to palming a basketball and getting it in from half court....LOL
I'll leave this expertise to you and just listen too you play because you must be just awesome...
I hope you don't have too much humid weather in Beantown this time of year and are enjoying summer...
I am swimming every day and keeping in shape or trying too at my age...LOL
Happy Trails...

@Maskedman46 Thanks very much for your comments! Basketball is NOT easy; I tried it in high school and have relatives who are coaches and players.
We've had an unusually nice summer with less humidity. The temperatures have been in the mid-80s to 90s mostly. Tourists and dwellers are happy!
