  • bass solo at 49 seconds.. great!

  • awesome!

  • The best i have heard yet

  • i'm impressed. A high school choir? VERY WELL done.. loved the dynamics. did not really like the scoops at the end of the lines but again that's just personal opinion. this was a job wellll done. :)

  • This is very good for a high school choir! Impressed! The only thing that bugged me is the change of tempo towards the end. Although, after listening to it a few more times, it had a nice effect in stretching the tension and making it a somewhat more climatic ending.

    Really liked this! :)

  • good performance, but my choir teacher met Hogan, and Hogan said it is supposed to be pronounced "Baddle" Not "Battle" ...just a minor detail

  • Moses Hogan is well known for having wanted the T's in battle to be especially accented, and he has been documented on TV saying so as well. Still....some people do baddle...some people do was Hogan wanted....BaTTle!!

  • @sopranosong

This seems to be rather a controversial detail. Out of my knowledge of this song and Moses Hogan He always wanted emphasize in the T in "Battle" not "Baddle". I've also seen documents with him mentioning that.

  • @sopranosong Hogan wanted the T's in the Battle to be heard, so the T's from Battle and the S's from Joshua clash so it can be just like a battle.

  • @sopranosong Well CLEARLY your choir teacher either lied about meeting him or he doesnt know what he is saying because Moses Hogan wants the Ts accented. "but I asked for the men to strongly accent the T's in the battle...Joshua fit the BaTTle BaTTle as opposed to the Ss sounds of the women....Jossshua and when you get the Ts and the opposing forces you have that conflict of a battle if you will"

    youtube it and you'll see

  • @sopranosong :

if you really research this piece (or watch the version posted by RiddleFilms) you will hear from Moses Hogan yourself that the "t's" are to be accented in the men creating a struggle with the "sh".

  • @sopranosong Search 'The Battle of Jericho with Moses Hogan" by Riddle Films with Moses in the begnning of the video. Check out 30 seconds in. He states he wants the men to strongly hit the "t's"

  • oh, God, i LOVED this! SO good! the details of the slides and tone and diction were AWESOME!

  • Ugh, I hate how the women keep doing the drips into the next notes like contemporary singers, it's driving my crazy.

  • Double Ugh!! They are NOT singing like contemporary pop singers at all. They are singing in the correct style for this kind of music.

  • @JAnthony37 Yeah i have heard several professional recordings of this that are true to the way the music is written and they all have those slides up to the note

  • The slides are written into the song you moron. Before you critique, you do your research. Listen to the chantage choir's recording. They have the best quality. What's impressive is that you can remain in tune while sliding around so much.

  • Those slides are written into the piece. Hogan put them there.

  • I love this song so much. I asked my choir teacher once if he could have us sing this, and he said when he gets more guys in the choir. But he also said by my senoir year (which is in two years- Im a sophomore now. :P) that we would get to sing this! So Im really excited.

  • you can do this piece with about 10 guys or so we just did fopr our last concert, also a very difficult piece for high school, esp tenors and sop.2

  • awesome job!!!! i always look forward to ur choirs vids one of the best choirs i have seen and listened to, u guys always do a awesome job no matter what the song maybe, KEEP UP THE AWESOME SINGING!!!!!!

  • Absolutely amazing performance! I sang this my junior year in high school and it was nothing compared to this!! Stunning!! My jaw truly dropped!! Guys amazing, Descant at end, OMG!

  • this is really good

    like for real

    but it's too tame

    loosen up lol

  • I really did enjoy this piece. Being a bass, I loved the low F sung at 1:27, And the ending was very original. Nice job!

  • haha same bro, my choir did this song this year. i love bein a bass so much.

  • Well! This Choir is amazing.. and as a Tenor, First Tenor to be exact, and Section leader of the Tenor section.. those tenors kicked ass! My Skool Choir has just begun singing this song.. and I hope we can make it sound nearly as good as yall did.. Great Job Tenors.. My Favorite Part of the song is.. "Joshua Fit the battle yes the battle of Jericho" And Tenors rocked it! Great Job!

  • Well.... Ima Tenor myself., First Tenor to be exact, and I am in the School choir as Tenor Section leader... and I must say.. Tenors Kicked Ass on this song!!! Righteously... My favorite part is towards the end when the Tenors get the real fast part, "Joshua Fit the Battle Yes the battle of Jericho.." We have jus started singing this song, and every time that part comes I just get super Krunk... Nice Job to the choir as a whole, and to the Soprano Note "Ah!".. But Tenors... Well Done..

  • OMG!! this is amazing.. a little funky at the end but still amazing..great job..

my skool is going to be singing this song, just hope we can get it as good as you guys did

  • Wow what a blend

  • YES..... nice job!!! everyone was tuned...and song together... me as a tenor... all i have to say is... Tenors kicked ass.....

  • YES finally a good choir very nicely done guys very nicely done. basses kicked ass well done your blend was amazing keep it up guys

  • yes ma lord

  • this is concert choir?!! wow, thats amazing!my choir's doing this song and we dont sound nearly as good as you guys. awesome. just awesome.

  • my high school choir went on a trip to austria and sang this song, this choir was definitely amazing, our choir did very well on it also

  • wow.. just amazing.

  • I'm a highschool that is singing this exact song, but there is only 18 of us so it won't sound nearly as good...and half the people are there just to have an "easy" class. I'm hopeing I can sing that really high "Ah" because I was asked if I could try!

But that was an amazing video!

  • Wow,Are they real highscool choir?

    So Amazing..!!

    They are very very gooooood!!

  • They sound quite grown up for a high school choir.

They have very round vowels as well

    they did this well :]

  • It really is too bad that you can't hear the bass 2's. I sing in that section and in all recordings we can barely be heard. Very good choir. Quite amazing. If you put emotion into the song, I think you would sound more amazing. Where is this HS?

  • very good better than francis lewis high wtf

  • WOW!!

    Amazing like fa realz

  • I like the echo at the end

  • Beautiful!

  • Of all the videos of this song i have found on YouTube so far, this choir is the best. The consonants are clear instead of slurred, and the Soprano soloist is clear and unstrained. Though I wish I could hear the Basses better, I think it is due mostly to the quality of the recording and not the quality of the singers.

    Keep up the fantastic work!

  • oh come on!! stop critisizing(spelled wrong probably) these students are amazing!!

my high school choir just sang this song

it is one of my favorite moses hogan pieces

    AMAZING PERFORMANCE!!

  • u guyz r so beautiful!

  • too bad in recordings like this you can't hear the Bass 2's on the low F for the majority of the song :-(

  • you guys have a great director.. im a bass and i dont think i can reach that note! haha

  • Incredible Basses, too heavy in Soprano 2s. You guys follow your director so well!
