  • This is one of my all time favorite videos, reminds me of days back when men were real pimps. Though I wasn't alive, I damn well appreciate that period.

  • hes white

  • Your sentiments are shared by many, dude, I assure you. Those days are gone.

  • This is some smooth shit. I like it.

  • no its not moron. its dre saying he was sorry for saying e was gay cause he got aids.

  • Yo, get your shit correct, wow! Eazy E got accused of stealing money form the group NWA, and that caused Ice Cube to leave the group. Cube came out with the song No Vasilene, and Dre left NWA, and started Death Row. Shit was way before he died! Ever heard of a song called Dre Day(and everybody's celebratin)? Chiggdy-Check your self!

  • this video shows the duality of the mind frame of men of there age and its effect on women.

  • Bitches can't hang with the streets

  • that is brilliant

  • lol

  • No fuck you!

  • awesome version! great great song!

  • I don't think so. Perhaps, being white and middle-class, it takes songs being covered by other white and middle-class people before I'm able to 'hear' what they're about. This song reminds me of 10CC's 'I'm Not in Love', i.e. hurt young man professing his indifference to womankind, when deep inside the truth may be very different. Dre's song deals with eternal themes in human affairs -disillusionment, betrayal, hardening of the soul- themes expressed in musical genres from Opera to Blues.

  • White people tend to think rap music is shallow and mindless, however I believe this is simply a function of their not being attuned to the ways in which meaning is communicated with language in the communities from which such music springs. 'The shit she be doing ain't shit' sounds like garbage to most people, but if you scratch the surface there are layers of emotional meaning there which would require many more words of standard English accurately to convey.

  • I think the main problem people have with rap 'music' is the fact that it's not sung; You don't need any musical talent to talk along to a backing track. The view that rap is a modern form of poetry is fine, but the argument that standard english is insufficient to convey the 'layers of emotional meaning' is unfounded. the english dictionary is abundant in adjectives that would convey perfectly the life and feelings of those in the ghettos of America.

  • Although i must tentatively admit that some artists lack the vocabulary to use this expansive library, and that their target audience may not (largely) understand it if they did, but there is absolutely now way you could compare modern rap about prostitutes and guns to blues, soul or rhythm and blues, all of which require at least an incling of timing and tone.

  • I think "some artists" is the right way to think here. Some rap and hip hop artists are like POETS. You ever heard the songs Beauty or Promised Land by Edan? Or pretty much anything by Atmosphere, Saul Williams, Buck 65, Sage Francis, Subtle, Brother Ali, Why?, Solillaquists of Sound, Sixtoo, Apathy...I could go on.

  • well the new stuff is

    fuck the radio!

  • Just like with Alanis Morisette's My Humps, the new musical arrangement of the original 'song' reveals a poignancy in the lyrics: the degraded and spiritually impoverished lives of blacks in parts of America. Wonderful. I would certainly buy an album full of gangsta rap/hip hop/R&B songs arranged by proper musicians, the better to understand and get a feel for the mind of the person who created the original song.

  • omg best video eva

  • this is so funny its fucking amazing

  • bitchez aint shit but ho's n tricks... so true!

bitch shut up and be lookin fine!

  • hahahah this shit is great, i didnt even know they did a cover of this...hysterical..i cant stop laughing

  • Yes, this IS shit! best song:)

  • genious.

  • Yes, this IS shit!

  • HAHAHA

  • its cool xD 8)

  • Sounds like my stats teacher trying to rap. Cheeze...

  • I think that's why the song is so great. It's so unexpected. It's just some nerdy piano playing white guy but it's.... Good.

  • I like 3:06 to 3:20 the best, its so erotic.

  • that segment refers to a Eric Wright (aka Eazy E) and his alleged abandonment of Andre Young (aka Dr. Dre) as a business partner and partner up with Jerry Heller {the "white bitch"} for financial gain.

  • ok this is my fav so far.. great job!

  • I love this

  • fantastic!

  • Pretty good. I like the idea. I agree that it could have been better with less repetition. Also, it would have been better without any color bits only because it would have had better flow. I'm sure the repetition is only due to hard to find footage. Nice job though! Keep up the good work!

  • This is wonderfully cut.

It does get a little stagnant with some of the clips, particularly the frequent re-use of some.

However, overall it's excellent. Keep up the good work!

  • Good.

Anyone got a link to the original?

    DJ.

  • Is their an original Ben folds one? If you mean mine, I can provide you with a quicktime ver if you message me.

  • Sorry to be unclear - the original Dre version, can't fin on YT.

Seeing BF in the UK in a few weeks, can't wait.

  • This video is an excellent concept and is creative. The only thing against it, is the fact that same clips are being shown over and over again. It gets really repetitive and redundant. I think that a re-tooled idea would be a GREAT idea for an ACTUAL video for the song. Good work though

  • Thanks!

I did really struggle with that. As someone that sells there work, I really wanted to keep it kosher with licensing, so it was hard to find footage that was public domain. I have a couple of seasons of dragnet sitting on my shelf, and if I had the rights to them, I'm sure I could gin up something with a little more variety.

Of course, it would also be pretty easy to shoot a video and make it look old school as well.

  • Holy F#CK that is brilliant!

  • very excellent old school - too bad you didn't have more joe friday. 5 stars none the less

  • I don't think it falls apart at the end. I think it's BONSER! Well done. I couldn't begin to dare to compete with it :-(

  • VIDEO OF THE WEEK, congrats

  • Sweet! Thanks!

  • That's because after working on it four tweleve hours straight you can't consentrate anymore and just want to get it done.

  • This is one of the few videos that tried to capture Ben Folds' Irony of covering this song. Wish I had done something more like that. Nice

  • Thanks. I think the editing kinda falls apart towards the end... I was a littl tipsy when I posted it. Unfortunately, I don't think I can post it again after I polish it up a little more.

  • I think so far lots of videos start to fall apart near the end (mine)
