I read this piece of crap on NY Times. What is telling is how it gets regurgitated into different sites and formats - propaganda and sleight of hand from Mr "shill" Lynch wins the hire of the corporate elites, who just don't want to startle the horses. The more you look at the REAL Peak oil facts, the more you realize we are faced with an unavoidable energy crisis.
What about merger mania ten years ago (Exxon Mobil, BP Amoco Arco, Chevron Texaco Unocal, Total Elf Fina, et al)? What about invasion of Iraq? If Iraq's major export was olive oil or dates people wouldn't really care about what it was doing. Go figure.
Well, according to Michael Lynch there is nothing to worry about!! The party just keeps going and going... Hey, the fun never ends! Thanks Michael, for showing us how we have a boundless supply of oil. You know what.... I'm going to go buy a Hummer now!!!!
I teach geology for a living and used to be a safety inspector in the oil field. I'm no expert but I do know a few things.
One pumps water into a well because there is less and less oil. The big fields of the world are in decline - the North Sea, Mexico, and most probably Ghwar.
Exxon claims there was was three trillion barrels of oil not 10 trillion. Tar sands and oil shale are environmental nightmares. Check out Amory Lovins' work on getting more work out of the energy we use.
Addited2OILau, that says so much! I think its not just how people operate as a group but also a reflection of how easily distracted by the trivial we can be as individuals.
were not the first spieces to cluelessly smash into the wall of resource depletion this video is for people with a background in business or economics not physics or geology
im believe we peaked in 2008 i base this on thinking

This video is total crap.
My only question is why is |humor| in the tag?
People who concern themselves with the timing of the collapse of civilization are foolish.
What are a few decades more or less?
You implied fossil fuel is low polluting.
I dont think you are properly concerned about your credibility.
You are not much of a doomer.
Stop wasting peoples time.

The Hirsch report states that we need decades of lead-in time prior to the peak to mitigate in order to avoid catastrophic shortages.
Well the peak has probably already been reached, so we don't have decades.
For "What, me worry?" Lynch to come by and state that there aren't going to be any problems with production is just a coffin nail for preparedness.
The precise time of peak may be uncertain, but uncertainty is cause for more caution, not less.
Cut oil dependence.
