Lee Bailey, Seantor John Glenn, Fredrick Smith CEO of FedEx, the president of Dominos Pizza, Former Cahirman of Wachovia Banks were in the Marine Corps, the smallest branch of the miltary at one point. Even former NY governor George Pataki's son is a Marine Officer....and he's a Yale Grad and Fordham Law School student.

A GOOD documentary is one that gets two sides of an issue and is impartial, go talk to people who have learned discipline, and gained a work ethic through the military. People who made successful lives and raised families but credit the military with cleaning up their lives. Of course talk to people who have had bad experiences as well...But get tow sides of an issue, not just a group of people who know NOTHING about the miltary, basically badmouthing them and going unchecked.

I wonder if you might give your views on the hundreds of millions of tax dollars used to recruit, advertise and market the military to kids when there is no such "other side" able to reach the same kids with all of the things the ads and the recruiters aren't telling those same kids. How can you market something that literally surrounds you everyday (civilian life). You see friends going out for drinks and parties every night? stay a civilian. You want to live a danger-free life? stay a civilian. These are everyday things. Its absurd to think "millions of dollars" of taxpayers' money should be spent on ad campaign for staying a civilian....The military is a very small percentage of Americans.

And I see all the videos on your page deal with the US Army. Well, I am not familiar with the Army, nor do I know anything about their recruiting processes. I have dealt exclusively with the US Marine Corps, both the officer and enlisted recruitment sides of the Marine Corps. And let me tell you one thing, Marine recruiters dont lie, kids who join the Marines do it because Marines pride themselves on their warfighting skills, Marine recruiters dont need to tell lies to recruit people.
Point being, the benefits of being a civilian are very apparent, people see them everyday, all you need to do is leave your house. Looking at past trends and different cultures, warfare as a means of conflict resolution is a reacurring pattern of human culture. By going back to ancient times, before the establishment of States or any formal colonies, evidence of armed conflict has been found.
Nobody just willingly resorts to war. There has to be strong motive set in place for one another to inflict death and pain among others. You are telling me that if a stranger came into your house threatening you with your life that you would not resort to violence in order to keep your self alive. and the recent trend of returning veterans commiting suicide is the direct result of people like the ones in this video. These same individuals bemoaning recruiting have really offered no rational mechanism to provide for the Congressionally mandated force numbers that recruiters must meet. Fine. Have a draft. WE will end up leading this nation one day. In twenty of thrity years we'll have either solid miltary careers or have gotten out into political careers like many former miltary leaders ahve done.

shit, the first black female miltary aviator ever is a current Marine Officer. People like Senator James Webb, Trial attorney F. Lee Bailey, Seantor John Glenn, Fredrick Smith CEO of FedEx, the president of Dominos Pizza, Former Cahirman of Wachovia Banks were in the Marine Corps, the smallest branch of the miltary at one point. Even former NY governor George Pataki's son is a Marine Officer....and he's a Yale Grad and Fordham Law School student.

A GOOD documentary is one that gets two sides of an issue and is impartial, go talk to people who have learned discipline, and gained a work ethic through the military. People who made successful lives and raised families but credit the military with cleaning up their lives. Of course talk to people who have had bad experiences as well...But get tow sides of an issue, not just a group of people who know NOTHING about the miltary, basically badmouthing them and going unchecked.

I have dealt exclusively with the US Marine Corps, both the officer and enlisted recruitment sides of the Marine Corps. Point being, the benefits of being a civilian are very apparent, people see them everyday, all you need to do is leave your house. and the recent trend of returning veterans commiting suicide is the direct result of people like the ones in this video. They spend 8 months to a year in the desert fighting a war only to come home to a bunch of snot nose kids and pot-smoking 50 year old hippies telling them that they wasted a year of their life fighting a war that doesn't count. Everyone is intitled to their own opinion. Fact is, we need a military. If you disagree on the war on Iraq, so be it. But support the United States and its military. I'm a recruiter for the Army.. And a very successful one at that. Never have I told a lie, nor withheld information. Recruiting is hard enough as it is, and screwing over a recruit will only come back to bite you in the rear when the community finds out you did them wrong.

Whatever you guys are doing, you're doing it right. It's not against the law, it's in good intention, and it's a balanced protest. I disagree with it, but that's fine. You can't please everybody. The thing is, those bonuses and opportunities are there. The best thing to do if you're considering the Military is to know exactly what you want to do beforehand and ask the right questions. The more information, the more sources you have, the better you will fare.

Why does anyone listen to these kids? Last year in high school they could barely pass history and government. 1/3 of all high school students won't even graduate. Only about 47% of college students nationally ever graduate with a degree. So, I will let these kids flip my whopper next time I am in their town.

I recruited in colleges, big waste of time. A lot are on drugs have criminal records that will prevent them from getting in. Not to mention a lot can't even pass the entrance exam and that is fact. There are several students on academic probation or will never get a 2.0 GPA. If you don't at least get a 2.0 GPA you will never graduate. Most idiot college students don't even know that!

I can appreciate the ideals behind this, but the critique is a tad odd. It makes it seem that your average recruit is some hapless moron unable to make a decision. A college student has the luxury of detached cynicism. These same individuals bemoaning recruiting have really offered no rational mechanism to provide for the Congressionally mandated force numbers that recruiters must meet. Fine. Have a draft. I promise that those in this video will work to get out of that responsibility.

Kyre10 don't be so god damned naive. In 1968 the CIA backed a coup by the Arab Socialist Baath Party of which Saddam Hussein quickly rose in the ranks. Saddam was in power from 1979 all the way until 2003. And in all that time we only fought Iraq when they were a nuisance to us, not when he was gassing and killing his own people. The world is better without Saddam but you need to realize the US government doesn't give 2 shits about the Iraqi people it's all about the supporting US interests.
