  • So....how long did it take you guys to realize this entire song (and a lot of the rest) is sung entirely in Solfège. The first time I heard it I realized 17 min in...You can hear all kinds of crazy shit in it though! <3 ...Rightfully maddening :)

  • @JeAxra not long, since I watched an interview with the singer :D

I wouldn't have known otherwise though

  • I Heard this in Hospital Last night on BBC Radio 3

  • @Jimmytom93 Do you not realize how musically brilliant this is and how therapeutic this is?

  • @BogMyster Do you not realize how musically retarded that guy is and how much therapy he needs to fix it? He didn't even spell 'glass' properly.

  • @Danthepianist Haters gonna hate

  • @Jimmytom93 It's called 'minimalism'. Pretty self-explanatory.

  • @Jimmytom93 there is no way you are 28

  • 6:36 SONY salami

  • @falstocat Haha LOL!

  • any more fast compositions from philip glass like this?

    Grid, Train, Spaceship..

  • @GamerX7800X check out Act III from The Photographer; Dance No. 1, 3, & 5 from Dance -- especially Dance No. 3; Serra Pelada from Powaqqatsi; Girlfriend from 1000 Airplanes on the Roof; Part 12 from Music in 12 Parts (90s or 70s editions); Floe and Rubric from Glassworks;

  • I'd rather take the bus!

  • pretty is very, I know, listened to this in 84 for the first time, have liked it ever since. :)

  • So exciting and hypnotic

  • remembers me "The Grid"

  • @Berselius33 yes i love that repeating sequence :)

  • your "todler" cousin must be a mathematical prodigy

  • @nco62292 there's no piano in here douche bag. lol

  • @nco62292 Your toddler cousin has a very structured and repetitive mind then :).

  • my god... i need to see the music for this... it's perfect

  • I like both recordings. The 1979 Sony Classical recording's on 4 CDs, but the 1993 Nonesuch/Elektra recording's on 3 CDs even though it's longer. The former, originally released on vinyl, had to be shortened for that format. I like the SOUND of the older recording more, but the newer one's cheaper and a completely uncut performance. Peace.

  • The newer one is more "perfect" and unabridged, but IMO sounds cold and over-perfect compared to the "fresher" old recording.

  • Which recording of Einstein On The Beach is this?

I've heard a different recording which wasn't as good.

I want to buy the opera on cd but I want to be sure I got the better recording.

  • This is the 1993 recording on Nonesuch/Elektra Records. Peace.

  • @CrackSnortingSailor This is the 1993 recording on nonesuch/Elektra. It's the longer recording, but the 1979 recording on Sony Classical SOUNDS better. Peace.

  • my favorite is knee 5...

more to come when i get the chance
