@Nascarking24 21 wasn't a lot in 2001. 2001 was a super competitive year in NASCAR, and it's only now, with the newly paved Talladega and the boxy, truck-like COT that leadchanges have passed what we saw in 2001. Had Talladega had the new pavement in 2001, I think we would have seen 70 or 80 leadchanged instead of 30/40 like we did at the time. The fin made all the difference.
@Nascarking24 this is actually quite ironic because now fans are complaining about the two car draft which is the cause of the 87 lead changes with a new leader for 25% of them.
thats funny they were talking about Juan Pablo even back then. I doubt any of them would have predicted he would be racing in NASCAR before the end of the decade.
I can't wait til the 2009 Daytona 500. After watching the exciting Talladega race last fall, I think next year's Daytona 500 will more lead changes than last year's race. I think we going to have a big treat for next year's Speedweeks.
wrong, it was like 2003, the Shootout was exciting as well as the duels. The 500 was boring for the first 1/2 until The Big One and then it looked intreseting, but the rain came and ruined the race.
They can't race like this anymore at Daytona- the track is waaay to handling sensitive and rough- it's time for a repave. Heck they don't play the Superbowl on a poor field but they continue to race the Superbowl of Nascar on a deteriorating track.
This is great, used to have this taped but it got ruined, great race they dont race em like this no more, sucked how it ended, bummer, those were the good ol' days, No Kyle Busch.
