  • I'm also a resident of Troy. I agree 100% and I am mortified that once again she has made anti-gay remarks.

  • I live very far away from Michigan (and everywhere else in the U.S.), and yet I feel very connected to issues like this, even though I am a straight female who has no connection to anything going on in your state whatsoever. I hope more people realize just how hurtful that statement made by Janice Daniels was (and other statements like it), and I hope more people will view this video and be inspired, like I am. Keep up the <3 It's what holds us together.

    From a small-town Alaskan girl. :)

  • I'm a 19-year-old lesbian from Royal Oak who recently came out. When I tried to tell my mom, she ignored me. When I told my sister, she said me she didn't care. After that, I didn't bother telling my dad. Sometimes I feel so deppressed and useless, especially when I hear about this sort of discrimination in our neighboring city of Troy. But people like you give me hope! Maybe someday I'll be proud to stand up for my sexuality, not only to my family, but to everyone! So I promise I won't give up!

  • @xmarachanx do not give up!!!! They will soon realize that you'll always be their daughter! They will adapt to change and figure out their own stuff! YOU are an inspiration, not the other way around :)

  • Thank you, Kristina! You are truly a beautiful (inside and outside) young woman. Bless you!

  • I grew up in Troy and graduated from Athens only 1.5 years half ago. As a result of Troy's educational system, I am now a student at Purdue University where I watching from Hicks library. I just wanted to say thanks for making the video. The mayor does have a large influence on citizens of Troy and surrounding areas. And I understand her words were ignorant and hateful, but I'm glad you were not one of those people who attacked her maliciously for her mistakes. I hope she watches and learns.

  • girl you are amazing... you just made my day.. just to know there is people like you :D

Greetings from Croatia where we need people like you...

  • I was born & raised in Los Angeles Ca. I am 49 years old. I spent 18+ years as a prostitute in Hollywood & other parts of the US. I am always amazed every day at things like This is an amazing Video! Very Powerful; I’m going to share this on my twitter, Facebook, & in every blog, forum, and email I send. I am so glad I took the time to watch this video of hope, this really made my day.

    Thank you girl.

  • Thank you Kristina. You're beautiful.

  • Why don't you speak at our next protest at city hall? December 19th

  • Props from Chicago, IL. Born and raised in Troy, it was and still is an amazing community. You all will get past this I'm sure :)

  • Kristina, YOU are one of the shining lights and angelic voices in the world. Don't stop now. I'm grateful Alyssa shared this with me so I can also share your message with others.

  • Kristina, you and this video are both beautiful. I am from Rochester, but live far away in Ireland. Your video moved me.

  • @sarahfancy Thank you so much! I worked at the Village of Rochester for a while :) I love it there! Thank you so much for the kind words!

  • @sarahfancy Hi - I am from Troy, but also living in Ireland - and also really liked this video Kristina! Where are you located Sarah?

  • @amitante68 Near Galway, and you?

  • @amitante68 And looking at your user name, you must have lived in Germany before? Or do you speak it? Lived there for 15 years.

  • fantastic! thank you for being a great ally and great human!

  • @gayrockguy You are most welcome! :)

  • Thank you, that was an excellent video. You are a smart, articulate person. If you know nothing of politics, you should begin to education yourself. It's not a bad word; it's the way our country runs. If more people had paid attention, Ms. Daniels might not have been mayor to begin with. Every citizen needs to know something of politics.

  • Kristina...I am a 54 year old lesbian who graduated from Troy High in 1975. I spoke to the Mayor at City Hall Monday night. I recently retired from Affirmations as their CEO - I was there for 11 years. I am an activist, a stand-up comic, and am fortunate to be in a loving relationship with my partner Cindy. I used to be the Exec. Dir. of the Boys and Girls Club of Troy...until I started to come out. With the good and the bad...I wish I would have had someone like you beside me for support.

  • @beaujack1957 It is women like you who made it possible for young women like me to stand up and say something about it; to make some noise. :) And for that, thank YOU! Thank you for your kind words! Trust and know that though we are still divided, young people today, most of my peers included, are not staying quite about this! EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL! The world is seeing the change we've been waiting for, and we WILL win this! :) Have a wonderful holiday! :)

  • Standing ovation.

  • Your message was beautifully done! The world needs more people like you!

  • Wow Kristina what a beautiful message, I loved your video. We are hearing the news of this in Canada and since gay marriage is legal here and has been since 2005 I wonder what your mayor has thought of our country. Many are tourists to your area and I can imagine the negative impact this could have on Troy. Knowing that there are such lovely people like yourself living there hopefully takes away a little of the sting Ms.Daniels caused. God Bless you!

  • @casper197126 It is a sheer blessing that it has been legal in your country since 2005. :) Before switching stores for a promotion, I worked at Somerset Mall which sees a lot of Canadian tourists! It's unbelievable the story has spread nationwide! It makes me have faith in the human race, because even in 2005 when I was a senior in high school, something like this would've only made local news! EQUALITY FOR ALL! Thank you for your kind words!

  • Thank you, Kristina for your tender appeal. I started this page for the young people and it's the young people who I have faith in who will make the necessary changes to the social order. God Bless you, Kristina.

  • @samniacat Thank you so much! I hope to be the change you speak of in Oakland County. This is my home, and I hold it dear to my heart. I grew up here, and I won't see it go awry!! :)
