  • ...to the Lord. Whether some one from a denomination uses instruments or not, one thing they cannot do is deny that our singing is displeasing to the Lord since the command to do so is found in the Bible. If any one from a denomination is upset because it is all A cappella, then they are the ones with the heart issue not us.

  • When I went in late 08 the Baptists had the biggest bus. I was visiting from New Zealand and needless to say, I was surprised to see them there. We have nothing like the Diana singing in NZ so it was a wonderful experience. I'm completely unconcerned who was there, as long as the worship was according to the will of God and lead by faithful men. The Diana singing is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to those from the denominations and to find common ground to show our love through song...

  • I wanted to go to the Diana singing so bad, but I don't drive, and I didn't find out when it was until the day before, but I really hope I can go this year.

  • I can't reply directly to posts because that feature does not work with my screen reader, but to the person who said that people who go to other churches would be upset because it's a cappella, that's not true. I went to the a cappella singing they had at Uncle Dave Macon Days in Murfreesboro, TN, and I absolutely loved it. (Continued)

  • It is so upsetting to see these ignorant comments. Anyway so this annual singing is done with New testament christians? church of Christ?

  • @Donnyandmelissa Everyone is welcome to go to those singings. It doesn't have to be just "church of Christ" people. Although most of the denominational people will be upset that it's all acapella.

  • Neither dickiebow 2003 or truthchamp strike me as very christ-like. I can see both sides of the argument, though. Truthchamp is the kind of self-righteous bozo people associate with the COC. I was raised COC and I NEVER heard it taught that everyone else was going to hell. Rather it was taught that NONE were worthy and were only saved by grace. I'm not religious by the way, but I admire the COC for their sincerity in trying to be true to the Bible. I mean otherwise, what's the point?

  • @wubuck79

Defending the scriptures against false teaching is not what you'd consider Christ-like? Maybe you've never read the NT?

And I've never said that everyone else is going to hell....2 Thess 1 says enough....

As for "only saved by grace"...then do we not need faith? Or His blood?

"Saved by blank only" is nonsense....demoninational...and unscriptural

  • I have yet to hear people in the COC sing good and I've been to quite a few..... Most of them are traditionalist period. They don't realize that their building is not the church, and the young people are slowly leaving them cause they don't have a true word for the people. They only criticize, and debate other people. Sad that they are so self righteous

  • I could not agree more - their denomination is dying - 50 years from now it won't exist.

  • "I could not agree more - their denomination is dying - 50 years from now it won't exist."

LOL.....so not only do you work tirelessly against the church but now you're a prophet as well? Laughable, yet disgusting... Grow up.....

  • I don't work tirelessly against the "body of Christ" in which I have eternal membership - I will however draw the line on fellowship with people who adhere to a work/righteous theology. I have fellowship only those who are saved by Grace thru Faith in Jesus Christ - when you make additions as you do, Grace is no longer Grace.

And just because Alex Campbell copped the name of your denomination from Rom.16:16 does not make it the church of Christ - hardly with your degree of false teaching!

  • The church of the New Testament is not a denomination, we worship just as they did in the first century, it is not about entertainment for man but obedience to God's will, worship is for him not for man. If you were to go back to the first Christians, Acts 2:38, day of Pentacost, if you asked what denomination are you are part of, they would not answer, there is only one church, one body, one Lord, one faith, one baptism=Ephesians 4: 4 and 5. Upon this rock I (Christ) will build my church.

  • So you obviously were raised in the Church of Christ since your birth I see - nice indoctrination - you have all the GO-TO verses down pat! But could we expand your repertoire ever so slightly?

Try this verse on for size - my guess it that you have not heard or read it before:

John 5:21 "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.

So what does that mean? "to whom he wishes"?

  • "So what does that mean? "to whom he wishes'?"

How sad it must be to lack the ability to embrace the entire NT in it's harmonious context. I do believe we are saved by grace through faith you heretic, it's just that I understand what saving faith is, for I'm able to read and discern all inspired texts and dare not "cherry-pick" what suits my uninspired human desire..

Since you choose the latter so often, could it be God lied when He says that He is no respector of persons? He wishes?

  • Now that's funny - you, a member of the Church of Christ denomination accusing someone else of being a cherry-picker. How funny is that! And Satan has obviously fooled you as to the definition of saving faith or you would understand that what God Saves cannot be lost? The good news is that I am retiring - I refuse to waste my time with folks like you who are lost in a world of legalism and cultish theology - maybe one day your eyes will be opened, but I doubt it!

  • "world of legalism and cultish theology"

Just so you know, a cult by definition has a human leader and/or founder, therefore, by default, you sir and all your denominational zombies are just that: a true cult....the church of Christ, church of God, church of the Firstborn etc etc has NO founder but Christ, Dixie, and the sooner you realize this and repent from your man founded erroneous cherry-picking DeMoNinational branch, the better the chance you will not wither & burn with it..Good Luck

  • Your leaders R false teachers - they have been around since 33AD - 150 yrs ago Alexander Dumbbell just joined the throng of "salvation by works" false teachers and U sadly bought in - what's new about that. Copping your DeMoNation's name from Rom 16 means NOthing! I could call U Einstein, but it would not make you so - obviously!

Also, "bliss" is NOT one of the fruits of the spirit - overcome your ignorance by letting the scripture lead U instead of leading scripture to where U want it to go.

  • "Copping your DeMoNation's name from Rom 16 means NOthing!"

Finally, you've admitted what I've known all along, that you lack respect for the inspired word of God....Romans 16 means nothing huh? You sir, are a heretic in the first order....

No wonder you were swooned by men into the demoninational prune picking church world you blindly embrace.....

  • DELETE!!

    DELETE!!

  • TruthChamp. He did not say Romans 16 means nothing. He said that YOU copping your DeMoNation's name from that scripture means nothing. Grow up!

  • ROTFL! You worship just as they did in the first century? I didn't realize all the Stamps and Baxter and other gospel music written in the 1800s and early 1900's in the USA was also around and used in the first century! LOL

  • WHERE'S THE PIANO, ORGAN, AND DRUMS?

  • The bible tells us to us our voices and hearts to sing praises to Christ not instruments( Colossians 3:16). We need Bible authority to every act of worship to Christ.

  • I used to be a praise and worship leader in a charismatic church leading with guitar or piano. Now I am a member of the Church Of Christ. Singing acapella is superior to instrumental worship. In charismatic churches the instruments are so LOUD you can't even hear yourself sing. In the church of christ you can hear yourself sing, plus you can hear people singing harmony and parts. People in the Church of Christ know how to really sing.

  • know how to sing terribly.

Although, I admit, with good singers, it can be very beautiful.

  • my grandfather is jack parks the song leader of the singing

i was supprised to find videos of it on youtube

  • Try it again with better sound. It will be worth the trouble. It sounds SO good live - but this just doesn't do accapella singing justice.

  • shame the sound is so bad :(
