Its useful with hondas as some use a captured rotor (wheel bearing has to be removed to remove the brake rotor). These do have thier benefits if you can use them enough.

what's wrong with taking it off and putting it on a brake lathe? Seems like you'd take off the same amount of material either way, gotta turn them until you take off all the warpage after all. I'm serious though, not trying to sound like a smart ass or troll or anything, but I would like to know how this is better than a brake lathe.

I used to work in a repair shop that had a belt driven AAMCO lathe. Seemed just as accurate as chain driven snapons, made less noise, and was much faster.

damn... I just replaced the front rotors, pads & calipers on my '03 Odyssey for just under $250. I guess turning them might be just fine in certain situations, but since new rotors and pads can be had for less than $150, I'm not sure I see the point, unless you're paying somebody else to do it...

Oh and the guy posting that it costs 300 to do this at the dealer is 100 bucks over shooting it.

The lathe we use at the dealer has it's own drive motor, car is set in neutral, speed is slower but it calibrates for hub runout.

got my front brakes machined down and new pads for $150.00 from a local mechanic...i dont think the honda dealer would be tht cheap but the idea of it is pretty cool never seen tht before

This is certainly the ideal way to do it too bad Honda dealers charge about $300 to do this including brake new pads. Many people will just replace the rotors even if lessor quality at their local mechanic to save money.

@cardo1111 That is just crazy (the cost) because from the looks of this they have to keep the engine running and in gear to use this machine so in other words they use your gas and you have to pay them to do that (this method should be cheaper than using other methods
