  • wow

  • Federer (Sampras) vs. Nadal (Agassi), only that it's quite an outdated version..

but outdated doesn't mean inferior. :)

  • i dont noe if agassi had the best returns but for sure the best groundstroke rally shots of both wings. his rally shot is basically the same shot he uses for winners which is so amazing

  • arguable the best serve vs the best return...great matches, back when tennis was at its best in my opinion =). remember the serve and volley wars, sampras rafter ivanisevic martin, good times

  • good

  • who won this match?

  • @UnknownMagician93 Connors in 5. :-)

  • Federer fans seem to have something in common with messi fans.. so much irrational defensive fanatism :S

Sampras Federer Agassi Nadal .. etc, all champs. just watch :)

  • @Polovene

    you forgot Djokovic

  • Two greats at the peaks of their game. That breaker was like lost because on set point Sampras didn't go for a second serve ace. The level of tennis was that high, that he should have. Amazing really

  • @TrippyCow Never the bar was raised as high as Federer did,, these two guys look minnows before him... thats the fact

  • 240p -.-

  • @TrippyCow Because Federer always doing Amazing things and other do occasionally

  • @abrar1234 Not really..

  • @TrippyCow Because Federer always do Amazing things and other do occasionally.

  • what year is that?

  • Who is the tallest Tennis player?

  • muito bom

  • Sampras had weaknesses too. His backhand and return of serve were kind of amateurish.

  • @TrippyCow Federer didn't invent great shots, but he certainly perfected them.

  • @TrippyCow true

  • Agassi's lucky let court won him this tiebreaker

  • Steffi is so gorgeous even though she doesn't care about her looks. <3 <3

  • 4:01 unbelievable ,no human shot

  • babolat looking lines on a wilson. That looks odd

  • @AndresRoddick1 probably used babolat strings.

  • @napoleanboots He used their natural gut.

  • scooble scooble bobble bobble weeeee narf narf narf silp silp grrrrrr ET!!!!!

  • I remember that i was in first grade wen theses two were in their prime XD... and that was wat, 2000-2001?

  • these were the days.

  • who can call this boring? This is high class, enjoyable tennis from both players.

  • tennis

  • sampras and federer are both legends

  • @Gzsy:

Federer beats Sampras in almost every tennis statistics and not to mention that Samprazzzzzzz tennis was one of the most boring things I have ever seen in my life, and stop with that bullshi* that Federer has not competition because everybody knows but you that the top-100 right now is way much more competitive than 10 years ago.

P.D.: I would have loved to see a clay match between Sampras and Nadal, although I already know the result: Nadal d. Sampras 6-0 6-0 6-0 in half an hour.

  • @angelwebeza hey.. if you like fed, then just talk good about him and shut up. dont insult a player like pete. "Boring things" .. then you dont even know what is tennis!!! "way more competitive than 10 years ago" -- no comments.

  • @angelwebeza Pete beat Agassi and other best players comfortably at his time.Federer has a poor record against Nadal. You can give all statistics he is the greatest of all time ( which I would I agree too) . If you had made a similar statement like Federer is the greatest OF ALL TIME 5-6 YEARS AGO I will applaud for you, great tennis following. Nadal leads Federer 14-7 head to head while Pete lead Agassi 9-3 the best of rivalry to their corresponding times.

  • @Gzsy:

You call Federer fragile? Yeah, o.k. Shows how much you know about him. He's a warrior inside, and he will always compete to the very end regardless. See Wimby 08. He could have easily lost one of those match points, but he didn't. He pushed Rafa to the limit, and he wasn't even 100%. Sampras was a great player man, but nobody compares to Federer. And stop bringing up that "Nadal made him cry" crap. Federer cried when he won the title in 2006.

  • federer is soft.. really is.. i saw hewitt wear him down from nowhere in one match and nadal did it again.. and it's not winning more trophies than pete... it's the level of competition and the intensity of the game these days....very thin... federer really wouldn't have had much of a chance against sampras if they were both young... federer is pretty and fragile, while sampras, he really is the warrior... impossibly beautiful athlete... with an unmatched aura.. plus he didn't cry.. :)

  • wearing him down in one match doesnt mean anything, hes won like 14 straight matches against hewitt and fed won the only match he played against sampras and he was only 19 and sampras was the defending champion

  • it wasn't like wearing him down... it was just like when he hit a wall federer just crumbled.. all his pretty shots went wide or into the net... and plus no one really played the game at federer's time to trouble him.. seriously.. all played to his strength.. with sampras it really would have been very very different... i would have loved to seen them play when say they were both 24 or 25? :)

  • 15 majors,

22+ consecutive major semi final appearances.

    10 major consecutive final appearances

    Most major final appearances.

Longest winning streak on grass(65) and hard(56).

Most consecutive weeks at number 1

    Won all four majors.

Beat numer 1 seed and seven time defending champion Sampras at 19 years of age on his debut on centre court.

And he's only 28. Federer is undoubtedly better than sampras. No doubt sampras was great but not the best

  • @Gzsy How can you measure that Sampras was better? Just because he didn't dominate as much? Federer has dominated his opponents for years and made Tennis look easy like none before.. I would even say that he is the most complete player that has ever existed while Sampras needed to rely on his serve-and-volley-game (which wouldn't be as effective with the slower courts nowadays). You should also not forget that Sampras wasn't very good on clay... His matches were spectacular but

  • @Gzsy .. I don't think that he can come up to Federer who is so good all around and was able to hit ANY shot in his prime (and still is incredibly good!!)

  • ok, I'm a Federer's fan and I also think this video is great... great tiebreak, great shots, simply great..

"High Class Tennis" is the correct name..

  • indeed! no questions asked!

  • Im not sure if blindspirit quite understands the polarity which makes this match-up great. Sampras as the greatest server and volleyer of all time, an all out attacking strategy is playing against Agassi, the greatest returner of all time, who plays an almost all out defensive strategy. It is this polarity of styles which makes the tennis awesome to watch and it can't be accurately compared to a match between two baseliners, one righty and one lefty.

  • they are still considered amazing shots, just like the rallies between McEnroe and Borg in the day. The sport evolves, so do the materials, so do the courts. Comparing is useless.

  • I would like you had too much practice this sport

  • RONALDO, brilha mutho nu curinthas

  • I'm sure there'll be some fanboy contra responses, but I'd much rather watch Federer vs Nadal. They did after all play the best majors match ever at the final of Wimbly 2008.

  • i don't think Wimbledon 2008 was any more competitive or entertaining than the 2007 Wimbledon. people just say that was the best match ever cause Roger was the favortie.

  • Two of the best ever. What a match that was.

  • who won?

  • sampras, i believe ...

  • In fact, Agassi won the final set 6-1.

  • does ur name mean double hat?

  • which year was this in?

  • The Safin-Federer and the Nadal-Verdasco match don't come close to this one imo

  • what a play ¡¡¡

  • Great tennis. Sampras second serve was insane.

  • no veo la jodida pelota, me entero del punto si lo repiten a camara lenta, joder....

  • This is a fucking master class!!

  • la cago grande agassi!!!

  • Agassi was so pumped toward the end of the tiebreaker. He deserved to win it. HIs returns were awesome. I felt sorry for Steffi as I always do for tennis spouses. They can only sit on the side watching helplessly eaten alive by anxiety.

  • these guys are the reason i started playing.

  • best game i ever watched live on tv, period

  • I thought Sampras would win because of the time left on the video.

    Way to suprise me! lol

  • gogo!!

  • lol Sampras 4ever lmao

  • brialiant tennis. agassi the best 4ever

  • Agassi just AWESOME!!!

  • ACE on 2nd serve at 116 is just ridiculous. There'll never be another player like Pete.

  • Yeah, and he did again! But he still lost the breaker

  • Now THIS is how tennis should be played. Players attacking each other, winners, volleys, aces, passings. Today's game is just plain old BORING. Just people scoring points off of one another's mistakes.

  • yea true hey!

ill always be a fan of sampras and agassi. love their form. true sportsmen of tennis!!!

todays' tennis is boring.. bloody challenges every second shot and its now all about aceing etc...

  • Comment removed

  • Todays game is different. It has only been 10 years since sampras. There are no successful serve volley players (in top 50). Back then many players relied on their strength. Today's game requires much more versatility.

  • Comment removed

  • No, back in the day tennis involved alot more finesse. Today, tennis is has come to banging it out on the baseline. Im not saying that tennis doesn't require finesse, but that the game has changed

  • why are you replying to me ??? seems like we agree that tennis has changed . . .

Not everyone played finesse-like back in the day. Most guys today can't display that "finesse" today because the baseline rallies involve hard hitting. More difficult / riskier to come in.

  • federer has far more finesse than sampras ever did

  • hmm i wonder mr. rogeristhelord...

    bias maybe ?

  • ha ha

yes i am massive federer fan

now dont get me wrong sampras was great but even agassi says the more complete tennis player is federer

  • when did agassi say this

  • players keep saying things like that all the time... really doesn't mean anything.. some day some new kid will come along and we will again say - wow, this guy is the greatest and all that... i am happy to have seen sampras and in no way believe that federer matches up to him... for all his pretty shots, nadal did made him cry.. and let's not get too hyper about novak djokovic, roddick, soderling and all that... the competition to federer that is...

  • like many years ago, when agassi was asked to name the five best players in the world, he said - "sampras, sampras, sampras, sampras, sampras." So there you go :) Like Bob Dylan said - "It's blowing in the wind.."

  • do you want me 2 link you to the video of agassi saying that roger federer is the greatest player he has ever played against?

  • well i know he said that bro... and i also remember McEnroe saying about Sampras that Roger and Nadal would have had altogether different records were they playing in Sampras' era... so u see, comments fly thick and fast through the air... now who will you believe? so you needn't believe what everyone is saying and just watch the games of both pete and roger to see who would have been better... and i do vote for pete here :)

  • so ur saying that b/c u hate it, everyone else should too?

  • wow how could anyone like u. ur so stupid and boring and i hate u so much.... who would like u. hahaha

  • Federer made the shot against djokovic which aggassi attempts at 2:18 - 2:25.

    long live king Federer

  • this is one of the best tiebreaks of all time lol

  • this is what tennis is (or was) all about. now its all ground-players trying to outrally each other. back in the 90s who dominated the circuit?? sampras, rafter, ivanisevic...some of the greatest players of all time =)

  • Smpras/Agassi or Federer/Nadal?

  • i pick the legends sampras agassi

  • this tennis is so high class, it's spelled tenis.

  • lol, that's good. Tennis is spelled tenis in some countries though.

  • @joshnghiem that comment is a thumbs up worth:D

  • @joshnghiem

in brazilian portuguese it is actually spelled with one n.

    maybe the poster is brazilian...cheers

  • @ulizinho If you look at the tags, it's spelled tennis. Yeah, I get what you mean though. Thanks for sharing, bro. Keep hitting.

  • Why Sampras has got 2 logos on his racquet: Wilson and Babolat?

    Great vid.

    I love tennis. :)

  • he use babolat string

  • thx ;)

  • thx ;)

  • Wilson logo=Wilson Racquet

    Babolat logo=VS Gut Babolat string

HAVE A GOOD DAY BUDDY BOY!

    I LOVE TENNIS TOO!

  • hmmm... what was he do, when he has got... I don't know... Yonex racquet and Wilson string? ;p

  • Generally, Sampras was a wee bit better than Agassi, but Andre had really the biggest heart of any tennis player, he never gave up and fought till the very end.

    I miss them both :-(

  • Are you talking about the same guy who dropped a set 6-0 on purpose so that he could have his first 5 set win? Maybe towards the end of his career, but in the beginning he was completely different.

  • I hate all these spanish fuckers, littering the comments list

  • You can learn a new english and be a better person. But you can die in your shit moron. I'm speaking in your language moron. Bye.

  • OMG! Thanks for adding this vid:D

I watched that match so long time ago. Magnificent!

  • you'd be a real dumbass to think that the way Federer plays and beats everyone means he's sistematic and not talented, you have to have talent to do all the things he does and make them look easy you asswipe quit/your life

  • wtf?!

Federer is one of the last players that moves to net more times!

    :/

  • still boring to watch him play though =/

  • C'mon...even if Federer is not a net-player(which I wish he becomes)...you cannot REALLY claim that watching him play is BORING!!!

    Seriously....!!

  • he doesnt come in to net much anymore. He used to a long time ago

  • Who's the 2nd seed at that time? Agassi is 1 and Pete is 3rd?

  • Kafelnikov the russian was the second seed...

Agassi went on to beat him in four sets in the final

  • best rivalry tennis has seen! agassi is the best returner and ball striker ever! full respect to him.

  • these two were and still ARE the biggest rivals ever in tennis

  • I luv agassi!

  • AGASSI is the best, most respect tennis player ever!

  • does anyone know who won the 5th set?

  • Agassi won the 5th set 6-1.

  • sampras had a back injury adn agasii won it 6-1

  • PETE!!

  • i already saw this on tv.its a cool match

  • i remember watching this match on tv. awesome match

  • yeah and sampras's volleys were second-to-none...him and rafter were the best

  • yeah but even if federer is better overall, which i dont think he is, pete is so much more fun to watch. roger is just repetition over and over again

  • And I missed him too...

  • I missed Pete

  • C´MON AGASSI

    SAMPRAS IS OUT

  • The thick commentator says,

"The only thing I can say to that is 'Are you kidding me?'"

    Silly

  • 2nd serve ace from Pistol Pete. Don't see much of that these days.

  • What an amazing exhibition of top class tennis...Out of this world!

  • what year is this? who won?

  • It was on 2000 and Agassi won

  • Who finally won the match?

  • Agassi

    6-4 3-6 6-7(0) 7-6(5) 6-1

  • this is tennis

  • Sampras ole!

  • agassi THE BEST PLAYER!!

  • Agassi Is the best ever.

  • What do you mean 'what do you mean his serve is risky?' It's obvious, you fool. Yeah his serve was one of the best in the history of the game, and he rarely double faulted. BUT, when you're midway through a crucial tie break in a grand slam quarter final - it is risky to pull out a huge second serve, you've got to see that. Sure, it might be the only double you serve all tournament, but the risk is there that it'll go out.

  • what year was this

  • 2000

  • what do you mean his serve is risky? he rarely double faults.

  • i love pete's serve even if its a risky one its like the best

  • uhh agassi is THE BEST RETURNER IN TENNIS HISTORY SO WATCHU TALKING ABOUT!? even the greatest returner ever couldnt return sampras mainly ass serve first serve and second serve that well.

  • ur a dumbass this is the new age that old shit wouldn't work, even agassi's return got better in the latter 2000's
