as a 9yr old growing up in san diego i remember watching this game w my parents, i was completely oblivious to how insanely cold this game was, every player on both teams brought their brass set that day, btw this IS the coldest game in the history of the nfl, this game was epic even tho Fouts struggled w the cold and strong wind, i can watch every play over and over. absolutely loved the coryell era.
@holtridge They should've won that Super Bowl. They were better than the 1981 Niners. All those turnovers in the 1st half killed you guys. Especially the interception Kenny Anderson threw to Dwight Hicks after you guys recovered a fumble on the opening kick off and brought it inside The San Fran 10 yard line.
I also remember David Verser could not handle Wersching's squib kicks on the turf. Also you guys should'ev scored when you had 1st and goal from the 3, down 20-7

I was at The 1981 AFC Championship Game. It was so cold that a fan actually died of hypothermia.

As a lifelong Bengals fan this is great. Although they lost to San Francisco in Super Bowl XVI they still had a great year!

That old Riverfront Astroturf was so bad they might as well have played the game on cement that day.

@bnegs521 I think cement would've been softer.
