It's kind of a commandment, the point was to "keep the sabbath day holy" while semi-promoting a book. The guy was so obsessed with work that he didn't even take time to say a prayer or anything, and if he had that would of bought him precious seconds which is the difference between life and death. If he hadn't been in such a rush NOT to smell the roses, he would of lived.
It was a good choice of music thought, Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve.
