  • I can't tell you how much I enjoyed you videos. I watch Davids too. I sure miss the old Schenectady, the Plaza, State and Erie Theaters, the New Way and Newest lunch, and so much more. Please keep the videos comming.

  • @zepodz1 John and Irene Stathis owned the New Way Lunch, she was my God Mother. I have the hot dog sauce recipe, its kind of a secret but Id be happy to share it with you if you like? If so, please send me your email address from my youtube page and I will gladly share it with a fellow schenectadian :-) The New Way & Newest lunch are BOTH torn down and gone. Remember the "Silver Diner" on Erie Blvd? My Mom worked there over 30 years and thats been finally torn down as well.

  • @zepodz1 I lived on Albany Street between Swan and Baccus, where did you live in Sch'tdy?

  • @zepodz1 O ya best hot dogs ever!!

  • Come again, since things are still getting better.

  • Thanks, Im there a lot since I still have family here and there around the city. Getting Sch'tdy BACK is a task that is a huge order but one well worth the try with the efforts of all who live there. Starting with caring to do so :-)

  • My late boyfriend was from Schenectady. Born and raised there. So was his wife.

  • WOW!! What neighborhood, do you recall? Or street? Ive run into so many people from Schenectady, small world. It was a great place to grow up in as a kid. I miss the good old days. I knew a lot of people way back when, Viet Nam took a lot of aquaintances away for sure and then drugs came in a quick second. What a time though :-)

  • I remember the day old bread outlet! I went there with my grandmother when I was about 10.

  • I lived right down the street across from Freihoffers and behind Dunkin Donuts. I went to St Lukes School and Church and then to Brandywine School. That was my neighborhood and it was peaceful and safe and also very nice to just walk around back then. Our old house 1209 Albany street was burnt down by trespassers and also my school The Brandywine School was burnt down. I go around there everyonece in a while to visit and it's like a nightmare what has happened and the way people behave today

  • Back then the people you would meet were potential friends for the most part. People grew up in the neighborhoods back then and there was a history with most of the families there. today you have a lot of strangers who don't care one bit and trash the streets. It's like being in an TwiLight Zone episode...Who would have ever thought how it would be in this day when we lived there? It was suppose to get better and improve not turn into this big wasteland. What a tragedy for this Historic town!

  • Good Job on the Video Gail

The New Show half hour long is called SCHENECTADYVIDEOS and is now on Channel 16

Would Like to use your videos. David Tanner

  • Thanks for sharing memories. I've lived in Sch'dy all my life and it has gone soooo downhill. Albany St. is awful, isn't it? But Newest Lunch is still there and they still make the best hotdogs. I live on the Hill, glad you didn't ride through there, it would really make you sick : (

  • Thanks for stopping by! I did ride through there, I didnt have the heart to post the video. When I was 8 I lived at the corner of Stanley & Emmett above that store that is now gone. Can you Imagine? It was called Myra's back then. I lived there during a brief seperation between my parents. My Gramma lived on Paige Street so Im quite familiar with the hill. Her house is gone, it was where that park is now. Its a shame what has become of this once great city.

  • It all started when the GE first started cutting back. Job loss, the economy & just no where to get a decent job here now a days. The crime rate went up as the economy went down. City kids have nothing to do but hang around. I dont know what the answer is but it would sure be great to see the city come back into its former glory again. I wish you could have known Sch'tdy as I knew it in its hay day :-) Booming, hustle & bustling city of lights.

  • My Mom worked for a while at the "New Way Lunch" which is now gone and the hotdogs were basically the same as Newest Lunch dogs. I have the hot dog recipe :-) Best sauce in town!

  • It's nice taking a trip down memory lane thanks for this video i love seeing America it's one of the few country's i dream of visiting when I'm older

  • Gail....your reminding me of that classic cheesy song "Memories " by Barbra Streisand LOL.....

  • Dang....I ment "The way we were" ....Cheesy song fail LOL
