I completely agree on Dragonshard as I saw it as a cheap Diablo rip-off.

As it turns out, Capcom intended to make a whole series going into the 6th generation of consoles.

However; they would be outbid for a re-license, by of all people, Atari who would go on to create Dragonshard.

This game actually, and it's sequel, came out on the Sega Saturn in the "Dongens & Dragons Collection". It's fearly rare but it won't set you back as much as an arcade cabinet. The ports are exactly the same as the arcade versions.

Don't know if you've played River City Ransom but a combination of this game and RCR would have been awesome!

I've always though this was one of the best beat-em-ups ever made.

I have to disagree on a couple of points. First the game was based on the basic D&D game, everything came directly out of the core rulebook and the Gazeteers. TSR was very insistant that we keep as close to D&D as possible. Second there is a 4 player US version, in fact the game was originally laid out as a 4 player game. Later conversion kits alowed it to be set for 2 players. All in all good review, nice to see a little appriciation for an old classic.

Thanks for the video my friend. I have to agree this game is the best arcade game out there. Just the fighting system this game uses is deeper than any other beat em up besides Double dragon 2 for nes.

You can down an opponent and then jump and press down + attack and you can turn your weapon downward towards the fallen.

Back to your video. Thanks alot. Its nice to see other people appreciating this game inside and out. I must have spent hundreds on this game.

awesome review! I'm glad that someone else remembers this game. There was supposed to be a collection of tower of doom and shadow over Mystara released on the Saturn but with the demise of the saturn all hopes of it disapeared. Do you know if the saturn collection was ever released over sees? Keep up the god work

Dungeons and Dragons Collection is an import for the Saturn that has both arcade games.

truthfuly it does have ALOT TO DO with d&D why because #1 dnd can be changed to almost anything and it's just a dnd action game with many dnd features it very much like dnd just a bit diffrent just to let you know DV1984
