&.for your information Mary was alive whilst John had been writing his Gospel, she lived with John and always took the back seat during his sermons when he preached which points to evidence that she hated being prominent. Obviously choosing that she not be included as much as possible in Johns writings, but still God gave her a place of prominence as she was the mother of Christ, and Christ loves his mother!! I am 61, and had special teaching sessions and attended the Rite Of Election in St John's RC Cathedral In Norwich with our Bishop (and over 100 other candidates). I also went to Confession and was Baptised in a special ceromony with our Church Parish priest. It was a wonderful experience for me, and was all started by my seeing The Pope last year in the UK.

Hi, This is not scholarly, just an insight into how I, as a Catholic, pray.I pray for other people, and I will often ask others,my friends and family, to pray for me. I approach Mary in the same way. I do not worship her but respect her courage and strength. However, I acknowledge that she is special in that she is the Mother of God, As such, she must have a special place in the heart of her son, as all mothers do in the hearts of the sons. I ask her to pray for me to her Son, and I pray to God.

I cannot think of a single religion or sect that has not had its share of controversy and scandal. The important part is to grow and learn from the mistakes of the past. Faith is not static. People come to Jesus through different means. Sometimes one is brought by scripture; sometimes one stumbles and Jesus picks him/her up; sometimes one is introduced by a friend. For some people that friend is Mary, or what they perceive as Mary. What's important is that they come to Jesus. During her life, Jesus's mother would never have objected to anyone coming to Jesus; I cannot imagine that she or anyone would have objected to the use of her memory leading anyone to Christ. It seems that if you were in the place of Jesus during the wedding at Cana, you would have told Mary: "I shall not do it because you have no right to mediate between men and God". Okay, Mary is not Queen of the Universe nor does she hold any special position in Heaven. God decided to use her to give birth to the Lord Jesus Christ. God didn't have to use Mary. He could have used a different Israelite woman. Mary cannot get you to Heaven and praying to her will do nothing since she is nothing more than a human being which is evidenced by the fact that she had more children and is not spoke of more in the Bible nor worshipped or talked about by the Christians in the Bible.

&.for your information Mary was alive whilst John had been writing his Gospel, she lived with John and always took the back seat during his sermons when he preached which points to evidence that she hated being prominent. Obviously choosing that she not be included as much as possible in Johns writings, but still God gave her a place of prominence as she was the mother of Christ, and Christ loves his mother!! I doubt he would let any one into heaven who has a grudge against his mother.

@pillowcase97 I was Confirmed as a Catholic At Easter, as is usual in The Catholic Church. I am 61, and had special teaching sessions and attended the Rite Of Election in St John's RC Cathedral In Norwich with our Bishop (and over 100 other candidates). I also went to Confession and was Baptised in a special ceromony with our Church Parish priest. It was a wonderful experience for me, and was all started by my seeing The Pope last year in the UK.

I had a Conditional Baptisn as I was Christened as a child and as it was so long ago I could not prove it with a Certificate, so Father Baptised me in a private ceremony, with the annointing /sprinkling of water, which was so lovely. My daughter and sponsor and a friend attended. I have a lovely Baptismal candle !

If you can be saved through a ceremony then that means that a human can get you to Heaven which definetly is not true so then you must not be able to be saved and therefore a Christian through a ceremony and the sprinkling of water, which is by definition, not baptism. He never once mentioned that Mary would give his followers comfort or that they could go to her for anything or that she would present humans prayers to him. Hi, This is not scholarly, just an insight into how I, as a Catholic, pray.I pray for other people, and I will often ask others,my friends and family, to pray for me. I approach Mary in the same way. I do not worship her but respect her courage and strength. However, I acknowledge that she is special in that she is the Mother of God, As such, she must have a special place in the heart of her son, as all mothers do in the hearts of the sons. I ask her to pray for me to her Son, and I pray to God.

Firstly, trust me when I say that the notion that Catholics do not read the Bible is simply a stereotype. We are encouraged to read and interpret the text. Thankfully, we do not all need to be fluent in Latin, Ancient Greek, and Hebrew to do that. Although, one does lose some meaning in the English translations.

The Lord is with you" He went on to tell her she was to conceive in her womb and bear a son and she must name him Jesus. This chapter is beautiful among so many. I cannot think of a single religion or sect that has not had its share of controversy and scandal. The important part is to grow and learn from the mistakes of the past. Faith is not static. It is a continuous (hopefully upward) path. I don't commend all of the actions of the past but I am hopeful for the future.

Jesus said " I am the way, the truth, and the life. Noone comes to the father but through me." Meaning Jesus is the only one to save your soul. Mary cannot hear our prayers. The Bible also tells us to prove all things and hold fast to what is true. It doesnt matter if every pope said she was. The Bible is Gods word. Follow The Word and not the system of religion.

Historically in the time and place Christ lived you will find Kings who reigned had mothers who were Queens. Jesus is a King and his kingdom is in heaven and his mother is Queen who also is in heaven. She is God's creation and it is by HIS command that she reigns. She points to Christ her son. Christ is the doorway to heaven.

Jesus wears the "Diadema" Crown. The Stephanos Crown is the Crown of VICTORY over Sin which is given to ALL Christians. It is NOT the Crown of Royalty or Rulership. @Cherubaby it does not say you have to do anything, however here is a verse for you: 1 Tim. 2:5 - therefore, although Jesus Christ is the sole mediator between God and man, there are many intercessors (subordinate mediators). Matt. 17:3; Mark 9:4; Luke 9:30 - Jesus converses with "deceased" Moses and Elijah. They are more alive than the saints on earth.

People come to Jesus through different means. Sometimes one is brought by scripture; sometimes one stumbles and Jesus picks him/her up; sometimes one is introduced by a friend. For some people that friend is Mary, or what they perceive as Mary. What's important is that they come to Jesus. During her life, Jesus's mother would never have objected to anyone coming to Jesus; I cannot imagine that she or anyone would have objected to the use of her memory leading anyone to Christ. There is not ONE example of a Christian addressing prayers to mary or the "saints", or to those who are dead. Not one.
