Is there a reason why some younger girls like Modern Who as opposed to Classic Who? For the same reason they like Justin Bieber. All image and no substance. They must realize there are more important things as opposed to the visuals when it comes to a tv show. Most importantly...a well-written story. If you want "Doctor Who" at it's absolute best, you really need to check out the early "Tom Baker era". Besides special effects(which are rather irrelevant) his era is the complete package.
OH, you two are awesome. That's exactly what my friend and I do watching epic Doctor Who! (and we are in our mid-thirties - NEVER to old to fangirl out!)
Fuck no? Fuck NO? "FUCK YES FUCK YES FUCK YES OPEN THE DAMN WATCH FUCK YES" was my reaction. I almost had a Whogasm just from hearing his voice in this video!
Ah, I remember this episode. One of the most epic moments of the new series', if not the most epic. I had no one to squee with while watching it, but I called a) my sister, b) my best friend and c) my other best friend right afterwards and spent the majority of the phonecall going "OH MY GOD!!!!!"
Reaction videos are a bit annoying but its nice to see someones love and excitement for a show. Quite an original take on the "reaction internet meme"; surprised there are not more vids regarding other TV shows or later Who episodes on YouTube. Shame you didnt record reactions to the last episode of Torchwood etc...
Ha ha! I feel so much better now that I know I'm not the only one who completely freaked out during the end of Utopia. I was shaking uncontrollably in delight!
I get the strong feeling that I should be vaugely depressed by the fact that that was my reaction too. . . and that mine involved jumping around, running around the room, and talking so fast as to be incoherent. . . Probably didn't help that I'd been chugging soda all night. . . still, I don't think there's any excuse for acting like a little kid on crack who was just told he'll have his favorite candy store to himself and whoever he invites all day long and that everything's free. . .
This is the best ever Doctor Who thing ever on video.
The only thing that ever topped it is being in Glasgow next to a Police Box and seeing a tiny tot get out of his buggy and hug the thing hoping to touch the alien sand and hear the cries of strange birds, and watch them wheel in another sky. He couldn't have been older than three years old. Not bad for something that started in 1963.
It always makes me smile to see people get excited about something they love. And to see that I have competition for loudest Doctor Who related squeeing. :)
It's good to know there are other people who find it hard to stop making random noises and appeals to the screen when watching Who. My flatmates always laugh because they can hear when Doctor Who is coming on because I bounce on my bed and sing along to the theme tune. I am 21 for christ sake! Lol!
What amazes me more is that when I watched this scene I did more or less the exact same thing, only with a lower pitch and more "yOu've got to be shitting me"'s thrown in.
you are still.... STILL getting viewers! (I surfed on over from the LJ comm doctorwho. And I'm putting this on my fav list because OMG, yes, I reacted this way. Believe me, even some of us poor fans in the USofA "get" it!!
Except now I'm wishing you were my next door neighbor so we could do this together!!
That was hilariously funny - I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who freaks out like that! Anyway, you HAVE to film yourself for the episodes when Rose is back!
whoever the returning big bad will be this year, I definately think that my reaction will be one that will freak out my cat. Watching downloaded episodes is far easier than avoiding spoilers for 13 weeks (as they only start being broadcast in Australia as the show ends in the UK)
I had a similar reaction when I watched the episode too...I had torrented it and was watching it at 4am with headphones on. I yelled YES! so loud that I woke up everyone in the house.
I just wanted to tell you you just scared the crap out of my cat (c:
Still love to watch your reaction, never seen someone get so ridiculously excited, it's great. Think you'll be getting the camera out again for this series?
HEY THERE - brilliand guys - and was great to see you N (cant spell the name so not going to try!!) and spend 7 hours sitting on a london street with you ;)

If you've got DT's video diaries you can see me in the Shakespeare Code segment, wearing the green shirt and standing with a bunch o' fans in Coventry.
Hey, gotta let you know that is truly what fangirling is all about! All that pure joy! I didn't know who exactly the master was at the time but I was still squeeing and fitting with excitement. Normal ppl just don't get us lol xxx
Awesome! I was also very excited about the Master! If you have the 'Music and Monsters' DVD, watch out for me during the Cyberman bit. I was in a black hat, wheelchair and black Dalek t-shirt with white sleeves. Look out for it!
My living room has been seen 20,112 times. Better not tell my mother that. It really did look like Briege hurt herself when with her UNIT squeeing and as far as I remember you did, didn't you Briege?
Alas, no. As something really odd happened and the original file was huge, and I quickly gave myself a crash course in iMovie and cut it down, and deleted the rest. Really didn't expect this to be a thing, didn't think anyone but our friends would be interested. :D
OMG, HAHAA. I just watched this episode, and I had the EXACT same reaction. (Well, except I didn't already know who The Master was!) But the screaming and freaking out? Yeah.
Paul Cornell (writer of Who's Fathers Day and Human Nature) has said how much he loved this clip, eventhough he seems to think you're Welsh. It's on a DW fan podcast called Podshock. Number 91, about forty minutes in. I'll put up a direct link on the Whogasm Wikipedia page.

Oh darn, that was me using my sister's account. >.>;; Should pay more attention to who is currently logged into youtube. XD So on top of geeky I am inattentive, shame on me.
oh fantastic - it's got some of my edits in it. Some guy on Wikipedia arbitrarily hacked it to nothing on the Utopia page. My description lives again - thanks whoever!
Eh, I was slightly tipsy at the time. I just swore a lot. It was a nice revelation and, I do believe I exclaimed how much I love the series when the big reveal occured but, I seriously don't think my reaction even touched that.
And you've made this judgement based on these three minutes? Well, very clever and well informed of you. I'm happy. I don't really care after that who thinks I'm 'tragic.'
No, I didn't want to sit through that long, if it's all the same to you. I made this judgement after about ten seconds. That's all I had to go on; no doubt you're well-rounded individuals, but there's little evidence here to suggest that, hence my judgement. You're a little touchy, I notice - did you expect everyone to congratulate you?
I was glad there was no one else in the house at the time, the dog did look at me strangely for bouncing up and down on the sofa with sheer excitement when I saw this myself.
Haha - this video's like looking in a mirror! I love the bit when you start tapping out the 'Sound of the drums' rhythm halfway through - I've been doing that all week...!
Just read about your whogasm in the Guardian of all places! Super cool moment. Showed your video to my wife (who is polish) to explain how important Dr Who is to us Brits.
It's amazing who big this clip has become. Do you realise how many marriage proposals you two are gonna get? I can't wait for tonight's episode. How are we gonna survive between tomorrow and Xmas Day?
"Doctor Who". It's a British science fiction show, and it's brilliant. The episode they were watching featured the return of a character not seen in 11 years, so if you're a fan it was a pretty big deal. You can see some of the context in the video response.
Ya'll are so funny! Ya'll remind me of myself at 14 with be best friend when we would watch stuff and get all "SQUEE!" over it! I am now 30, and still get like that at times (especially over DW!) Ya'll should definitely tape yourselves watching the last episode!
Girls, have a look at Metro dot co dot uk (YouTube won't allow URLs) and search for "Whogasm". There's a news story on there all about you and this video! Your fame is spreading!
I've only just noticed that you were tapping it out a week BEFORE everyone the Doctor saw was tapping it out in the street and everywhere - woo that's spooky.
"well it may be just me, but that tapping of drums is very similar to the Dr Who theme tune ;)" Yes it is. RTD has obviously given this some thought and re-interpreted the theme so now, we can see that the 'drumbeat' bass is the Master's element and the Doctors Theme is the WOO-EEE-OOOH over the top. Border's on creative genius.
I dunno why everyone's calling Martha stupid. She would be non the wiser about The Master. As far as she knows it could've been just another timelord and that would've surely been a good thing!
Oh, yes, completely. I mean, who would suspect it was the Doctor's arch-nemesis? I don't really blame her, she couldn't have known. But still, you just had to shout at her, because for us, it was all so obvious! Poor Martha. Not her fault really. And she didn't just tell him to open it without contacting the Doctor first, which was clever, but she did hint that he could open it.
here is a plan, watch old doctor who, starting with 1963

This is well scary. We thought 'yeah this'll be a laugh and we'll put it here to embed in beaky's LJ. Then it kind of exploded over the weekend...
People seem to enjoy watching us being silly :)

How come you're tapping out the Master's 'secret' rhythm on your thigh near the beginning? It wasn't in the music at that point. I smell a BBC fix...
blackrocknopants 4 years ago
It was. The Professor kept hearing it. And in one of the trailers you saw Saxon in the Cabinet room tapping it on the table. :D
buckbeakbabie 4 years ago
I've only just noticed that you were tapping it out a week BEFORE everyone the Doctor saw was tapping it out in the street and everywhere - woo that's spooky.
Rumpio 3 years ago 2
well it may be just me, but that tapping of drums is very similar to the Dr Who theme tune ;)
Rumpio 4 years ago
"well it may be just me, but that tapping of drums is very similar to the Dr Who theme tune ;)" Yes it is. RTD has obviously given this some thought and re-interpreted the theme so now, we can see that the 'drumbeat' bass is the Master's element and the Doctors Theme is the WOO-EEE-OOOH over the top. Border's on creative genius.

Yay, as I've said, this makes me happy as I feel less silly for acting like this.
buckbeakbabie 4 years ago
I hope you are doing the same for "The Sound of Drums" ladies?
adamboyes 4 years ago
Alas, no. We aren't watching Sound of Drums together. But we will be watching Last of The Time Lords together, so hang in for that.
buckbeakbabie 4 years ago
I dunno why everyone's calling Martha stupid. She would be non the wiser about The Master. As far as she knows it could've been just another timelord and that would've surely been a good thing!
However, yes, I was exactly the same.
alfiej 4 years ago
Oh, yes, completely. I mean, who would suspect it was the Doctor's arch-nemesis? I don't really blame her, she couldn't have known. But still, you just had to shout at her, because for us, it was all so obvious! Poor Martha. Not her fault really. And she didn't just tell him to open it without contacting the Doctor first, which was clever, but she did hint that he could open it.
buckbeakbabie 4 years ago
XD Awesome! I was pretty much the same, too. I was completely bouncing up and down on my bed the entire time.
