This actually comes with an elastic type band that you can strap to your head - it's what I used to take it water skiing. I've bought a new camera - GoPro Hero Wide - and find it far superior in video quality, weight, ease of use, etc. The GoPro needs to be attached to a helmet though, so you might have to go with the ATC3K.
Honestly? I'd suggest not buying the ATC3K - there are newer cameras out there that are better!
You should have no problem with it getting popped with a paintball. It is very sturdy as far as I've found. I've dropped it on concrete, wrecked skiing with it on my head (hurt me more than camera), and it still keeps going.
i have this same helmet cam and i think the sound quality is horrible. even the video quality is real bad. it is also real shaky. it was a wast of my money
I'm looking into getting something like this, but I would quite like some sound and as you said, it isn't brilliant. I have noticed on most of the ATC2K videos that its sound seems to be much better than the ATC3K...does anyone have any suggestions to what I should get. I would be using it on my RS 800 sailing Dinghy and possible on our Local RNLI inshore lifeboat, so sound would be nice on the latter. Thanks
Just as windsurfmonkey said: I think the Tachyon XC might be better. I just got back from a snorkling trip in the Islands, and was totally shocked - the sounds recorded underwater were 100% perfect! Sounds recorded NOT-underwater still kind of disappoint.
Not one single issue regarding waterproof - down to 20+ feet of depth.
Final word: both are cheap, but I think the XC is just a little better than the ATC3K.
That certainly does seem to be the superior camera...but the only places that seem to sell them are in the US... and I live in the UK and am reluctant to have it shipped over, I will if I have to, but would rather not!
try the tachyon XC. It's totally sweet. much as i'd love a bullet cam hi def set up id never risk strapping to my windsurf kit like on my vids (click name)
OMG thank you for posting this - I'm looking for some sound quality and there's nothing outstanding about this camera that I can tell... wow - very helpful
My advice is to brace it well. When I attached it to the belly of the plane, I strapped it tightly, and then folded up a sheet of paper about a million times and wedged it between the mounting and the plane. It helped. Just remember - you get what you pay for!
i had the older version of this camera, basically the same thing though. i tried it on my dirt bike, but it didn't work out too well. tried it on an R/C car, didn't work well. however, i was very impressed when i used it on my paintball gun. it worked like a charm and i got some pretty good footage. also, in paintball you usually play in little or no wind, so there wasn't a swisshing sound throughout the video, sound actually came out pretty good. it also fit like a glove on the gun.
I almost bought the ATC3K. All of a sudden, out comes the Tachyon XC. Compatible with up to 32GB SDHC, it's smaller, and seems a bit like the better camera. I'll be posting some vids soon but there's already a ton of vids posted using it.
I've used Windows Movie Maker for all of my editing thus far. It's ok, but I'm getting close to maxing out what it can do. I'm looking at other software packages and will let you know what I find.
So you like your camera? I am wating for the ATC5K. ATC5K has 53 degree field and a 1.5-inch LCD. I think the video quality is the same in ATC3K and ATC5K.
I am very satisfied with the 3K. I considered waiting for the 5K for both the screen and wider field of view, but the higher price gave me pause. I won't be too mad if I break this camera or it falls off the airplane while in flight (check my other videos), but I know I'd be pretty upset to lose a 5K.
My advice is that if the screen and wider view are that important to you, go for it. Better to be happy than resentful.
I really don't care about the LCD screen, but I want wider filed of view. Don't know if there's a big difference from 48 to 53 degree. I'm going to southeast asia in November, and I'm going to shoot some underwater spear fishing.
I've seen your othe videos, and noticed the the light is very important!
The raw footage taken by the camera is actually a little better than the High Def version in YouTube, so it does pretty well. Color capture is really good, too in good lighting.
I'd imagine that the sound and image will be the same for the 5K. Good luck!
Cool video, when you get the chance come and check out my website SoundLantern, you can upload all your music and audios, i have the link on my channel, thanks friend
I've been on my hedge too, good video. lol!

Good luck with whichever model you choose. Make sure you post footage from you trip - sounds like stuff I'd like to see!

hi thanks for the review...
noticed a huge difference in High quality view, heaps better.
The standard quality doesn't do it justice.
I've noticed the new model ATC5K just released wonder if any improvement in sound or image.
