Scott, thanks very much for this video. I play in a "Chicago rock type band and I thought that if I could learn this tune, it could be a show stopper, thanks to you, of course! That' why I'm grateful to you for sharing your knowledge, skill and technique with this song. I'll be checking out your other videos as well. Thanks, again!
I love the idea of thumbing the bass notes, as far as I've seen tommy doesn't do it, but I think it shows a fun level of competency on the instrument. Well for me it does, I've got tiny little lesbain hands which is awkward cos I'm a dude :\ Been doing it for a while now, didn't even cross my mind to do it in this song. Excellent lesson, keep it up bro.
@MrWopwink Thats a good question, I think it helps to just be extremely familiar with the song. To the point where you can play it while talking. It also helps to just play the bass louder than the other notes with your pick. Hate to say something so obvious but, just practice more! =)
@wopwink I did learn it from the tab at first but it's not as detailed as tommy actually plays it. So I had to watch a lot of videos and learn it that way
Hey everyone... If you really do like having this guy here to walk you through these songs help a brother out and pitch in on some better video gear .....see the link up there?? this young man is spending ALOT of time with these posts and is trying to get up enough funds for a better camera..! Did one of his lessons help you? send the love back around and lets get him some better gear, its an investment in your self sort of..its easy safe and the man is willing to continue doing this for us !!
2 months ago i was just a beginner in guitaring and did not learn guitar from anybody , just watching people playing guitar..............but after i decieded to learn a T Emannuel lessons i found this video and now i can play pretty well.
Bro can u send me more fingerstyle lessons...................
Well done, ScottTsai. Very succesful interpretation of one of Tommy´s sensitive compositions. You aseriously are a very good teacher as well as guitarplayer/interpretator. Carry on, Gen. Lt....
very very nice .. calm .. correct .. and repetitive .. one of the better videos I've seen .. of course it doesn't hurt being one of my absolute favorite songs, and you play it excellent ..thanks for sharing
hey man great playing! i was kinda in a rut but your lessons inspire me to keep playing! you've probably been asked this in other videos but what kind of guitars do you have? Thanks.
yea ive tried those before, i like the strings i use because they are phosphor bronze not because ot the nanoweb coating. i dotn think elixir offers polyweb with phosphor bronze
actually I would like to make a correction to that statement lol. Elixir's nanoweb phosphor bronze strings have their own special gauge which is 12 - 53's so there you go =)
Thanks alot!! Love ur vids!

Hey Scott, I think the second Chord on the opening is actually played:
4th on E string
Open A
2nd on D String
4th on G String
open B
open high E
Hope that was clear...This sets it off nicely from the first Chord.

The lick at 8.10 can also be done by using an e shape fingering on the top three strings and pulling off with
your little finger.

How come you don't play it like the tabs says to do around the 4:00 min? I get the same sound as you but with a totally different grip.
Your guitars has such a nice sound btw! :)

T.Emman. is scarey good.
Never tried to play any of his tunes because I get blown away every time I listen and try to interpret.
You, my friend have allowed me an avenue to learn one of my T.Emman. favorites!
... and practice it I will!
The Best to you in the new year.
