i was wondering if the imperial guard will fight the Space Marines, like the last 2 times in Soul Storm and Dark Crusade, it was kinda stupid since they both have the same religion (the Emperor) they're both humans, and they both come under the same command.

And the story in both those games on why they fought each other, one was the Imperial Guard was ordered to retake the planet they had lost, but the Space Marines vowed the wouldnt step down. so for some reason they thought it ok to fight.

To all those who does not know Imperial Guard and say they are regular people in Warhammer 40k. No they are not normal and they are the most strongest force in warhammer 40k. Literally they wear armor that doesn't protect them at all and given a laser gun that pierces through flesh even though their enemies wear thick armor even a tank shell won't hurt and guns that is like a machine gun of RPG. Yet they always win because they die standing, holding the ground, for the imperium.

people need to realize the guardsmen tend to drop like flies so upgrading them is pretty much useless

@uyiih wrong.. thats exactly why you need to upgrade them, you go from 6 models to 12 and if you give them plasma guns they are deadly. Combine this with the Lord Commissar's ability "Loyal to the end" and they are gonna murder ppl as they start taking losses which is expected since they have 12 models. Also guardsmen are so cheap its in there nature to die and be replaced. Iv seen matches with some of the top ranked players use guardsmen builds with up to 3 squads and it was far from useless..

why do they baneblades main cannons have to be a ability? it worked just fine in dawn of war 1 as a regular weapon. Its just tedious to have to keep clicking back on the baneblade every few seconds to fire the cannon again. And if they must be abilities why cant you right click them so it uses them automatically on what ever its shooting at lol???

imperial guard in this seem more like a hold the line type of race. So why do they always require aid from the space marines? they have three different types of turrets, have two very capable artillery vehicles, and can make their own cover along with their own bunkers that if taken over can be remote detonated. And lets not forget that they can place mines from planes. But this is a nice video good job

i might have a suggestion for an ability for the guardsman squad. Lasguns can self destruct and the blast is said to be able to crack the front armor of a chaos dreadnought. Since guardsmen are rubbish in melee, why not make one of them detonate their lasguns just like the chaos heretic detonate ability. I think that would be pretty cool to see.

@Pifacedude from what I can tell, after the ability to fire recharges it reloads. It can only fire via its ability, but it hits an area with four missiles as you see in this. it needs to use this ability to fire, otherwise it uses the HB

I love playing as the Imperial Guard, play as them about 90% of the time but in evert warhammer game they are patheticly weak, I understand the idea that they are just human but come on 12 guardsmen vs a eldar guardian squad in beta and the guardsmen lost while in cover, they are weaker in retribution than in soulstorm and thats saying something. Plus the IG armour is easily outclassd by all of the other races and limits how much fn you can have with the IG. Does anyone feel the same way?

@DILsayHI When I used to play with my friends, I used to find I could dominate the tier 1 stage, but asoon as it got to tier 2, I was useless. Stormtroopers just seemed to be so bad to me + the enemy armour being just as good really made things difficult xD

@Pengzor Exactly! The only way I found to even survive a set ammount of time was to horde all your troops into one big group and just charge the enemy positions, if that does'nt work your screwed. Why make the IG so weak and underpowerd when they are a key race in the warhammer 40k universe and as yo said as soon as enemy armour is available they just roll over the infantry and obliterate the armour. Is there any other tactic for IG besides hording?

@IrishBagel07 Doesn't work that way in Dawn of war i'm afraid. I'm learning how to play warhammer with a big group of mates, and chose to play IG. They're a laugh on the board, and perfectly balanced. Asoon as you load up dawn of war, IG get stomped on so hardddd. Basalisks are more or less non-existant, so only artillery is manticores (which are extremely easy to dodge). Baneblades / russ take a very long time to obtain as they're tier 3 units, by then you're dead, unless you play with a team
