Like the men on Ullyssy's ship, I feel the need to be tied down, so that I won't rapture when I hear this music. He, to me, was singing about the kingdom of heaven, and love. I think there are some very jealous people out there.
I suppose that of all the many songs I love, this speaks to me the most. Why must we only appreciate talent after the artist is gone? Where were the angels when he was in need? I'd like to fire them all.
@donalynette I used to be hellishly sad for so long, listening to Tim and realising that he was dead, but then I discovered 'Because of You' and something changed.
The weird thing was that I started to feel that he wasn't dead at all, but out there somewhere in the ether - which for SURE his voice and music still are! So at the very least he lives on as a thought form, which can be very powerful.
@garthzares It's up there undoubtedly. The first thing I ever heard about 'Buzzin' Fly' was that it was probably Tim's most commercially known song, and one he came to later resent and avoided playing it. To me, someone who's only gotten into him the last couple years, I agree...it's a brilliant song. But I'm a real fan of Happy/Sad anyway, more so than anything else he did. Strange Feeling...Love From Room 109...Dream Letter...that's a solid bunch of tracks. I love the freedom of it too...
The idea that Tim and his band are stood round playing this, as is often reported. I thought this was the pinnacle until I heard him on that live in London '68 LP...he kicks up Buzzin' Fly and it's a real hairs on the back of your neck moment, a testament to rock 'n' roll, but most of all, a record that really makes you GLAD to be alive, breathing air. Am I overstating it? Haha.
It;s still buzzing in my head when I hear this song. A long time ago me and my brother listened to the record on and on. We never heard something like this before, We both got tears in our eyes and from that time we bought all te records of Tim. Died to soon, but is still in our hearts
Walking down Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley and seeing this in the window of a record store in 1969 - little did I know that 42 years later it would still be a part of my very being...
heard this in Bath having just met really nice girl , somrthing special more than just looks, and this always reminds me of devon savouries area in town centre.
1969, it was a VERY good year. I's just a boy, smack dab in the middle of Kansas, a sophomore in high school. Never heard anything like it before, and guess what? There is still NOTHING like it! Love it.
Comparing himself to a fly and recognizing nature totally. this song has been in my head for 19 years now. Buckley's!! Saw Jeff once accidentally, awesome!
The purety of this song leaves me speechless. My brother gave me Happy/Sad for my 15th Birthday in 1975. I was into Deep Purple/ Sabbath etc. I heard 'Buzzin' Fly' and didn't know what hit me. The longing tone of his etherial voice...the desperate and lovely words...how could he ever be lonely? Yet, it was the lonliest song I'd ever heard up until that time and perhaps ever. What a gift to me. My bro still doesn't know how it changed my life...the sonvabitch!
Would You Go To Hear Someone Else Preform The Tim Buckley Music Catalogue, If You Knew Tim Taught The Performer All Of His Music, Personally? Just Asking..
Nostalgia rocks! Oxymoron aside, I heard and saw Tim present this song in 1969. Haven't heard it since until tonight. Love, haunting and can hear the lyrics.
Nice Job, Thanks !!!

So he is alive and wooing our ears.
You wanting to fire the angels was very funny. :)

@burnsybaby1987 Nah... Tim Buckley's work can never, ever be overstated. ;)
I know it was a rhetorical question but I felt compelled to comment nevertheless. ;)
