The Royal Marine Commandos were based off of present day MRF but back then USMC Raiders, c UK not only do ppl base things off of the SAS, u base things off of us too, meeeh
@WHTFilms well u c to be part of DEVGRU DELTA, u hav to hav 5 yrs of service in SEALs or any other SF and even seasoned SF don't survive the unknown training
im an american,i love our british allies, they are the greatest and we couldnt do it without them.im joing the U.S. army after highschool and i hope to fight next to you guys on the front line.god bless the USA and the UK
HEY EVERYONE!!!! Who cares who is better. None of you have any say in S.A.S is better, or Navy, or Marines, or Royal Marines, etc. I have a feeling none of you have ever been into combat or even combat training. So stop bitchin about one is better then the other unless you have proof of one killing the other in a 1v1 match. Shut up and enjoy that they are fighting wars while you can sit on your butt and watch youtube. Thank you.
@MrBEAST127 Have you served with the SAS? If yes, I apologise, if no, then how can you say anything about them if you haven't served with them? The only real information offically released to the public is some of the training techniques.
@MrBEAST127 Shaytet 13 is one of the best special forces in the world, but are below the SAS. I only mentioned training in my previous comment, which was implied as saying that Shaytet have slightly tougher training techniques.
The amercians have different types of marines each doing a specific job ours are trained to do any and also British special forces are the best and toughest in the world the SAS, around 2% make it past selection, they do everything not just individual tasks or operations they adapt and are tough enough to overcome the harshest conditions. And for one what the yank navy seals did was just how good they really are, i mean they didn't take flashbangs thats just plain and utter stupid.
@englandfootball8 Exactly. The requirements are there to ensure that you are experienced, they also go through several training phases designed to weed out weaker recruits. For example, I was told by a flight lieutenant that the SAS, after the Pen Y Fan climb, walk for miles to a van to be picked up. When they get to the van, it drives off. Weaker recruits would give up there. The van is often found around the corner. Shaytet 13 training tries to get everyone through, SAS take only the strongest
@sockschappercat sorry but no they arent i saw a documentary on them and they are trained for specific roles such as CT or assasinations or whatever , the sas are universal soldiers as they are put in for example air troop and then rotate to other roles such as mobility troop so they train for every scenario possible and makes them an all round bril fighting force and they train other elite forces because they are that experienced and trained. hope that explains what they do better :)
@JBeharrell All I'm trying to say is that some SF's training are tougher than the SAS. Maybe because everyone in the SAS has gone through 3 years of service? That could be called "training".
@sockschappercat no in the Brit army you have to have at least 3 years service before your CO recomends selection if you pass selection which is a couple out of thousands then you train and learn techniques very very fast and then after a year they can still throw you out because your not up to it and its both physically and mentally demanding. - read bear grylls book , mud, sweat and tears then you'll know how tough it is and why they are considered the most elite
It doesn't make any sense to compare the US Marines and the Royal Marines. Its apples and oranges. The USMC is a MUCH larger fighting force than the RM and is designed to operate VERY differently. It would make more sense to compare the Royal Marines to US Reconnaissance Marines (the special ops of the Corps). If we compared Navy SEAL training to British regulars it wouldn't make much sense either. Anyway...
Thanks a lot to the British troops from America. God Bless
Who the fuck compares the Royal Marines with the U.S. variant? Nine months of training? A 20% pass rate? The Royal Marines are special forces in comparison with your average U.S. variant. It ought to be something like Army Rangers versus Royal Marines.
@Elena9545 Rangers are like Marines but air bourne qualified. Force Recon, MARSOC, FAST, SEAL's, Special Forces, Delta Force, and Air Force Special Forces are all more then a comparison to the RM's. but in the end the US and UK have the most highly trained troops in the world
name a better marine corps? there is none only the dutch marines come close. 32 weeks of basic training then they pick a speciality, from the wurzburg radar raid and the st nazaire raid and even the falklands war they have policed the world and fought in every conflict from1664 and still the going strong
well of course the US marines are one of the best marine forces in the world but the royal marines are not just marines they are commandos thats why they have the longest and most grueling basic training of any elite fighting force in the world, only SF training could be said to be more intense. but together we are unstoppable, ask hitler, tojo and saddam and terry taliban is also finding this out now in afghanistan
@fairclought7 US Marines are Shock and combined arms force. The USMC has few commando type units such as Force Recon, MARSOC, and FAST. That all go through elite forces training. but the USMC also brings with it Aircraft, Armor, Artillery, and Logistical support. US Marines more or less can execute any type of mission within 6 hours of notice. From SF level raids, to Invasions, to humanitarian aid. BTW Respect from the US
I'm American, and I'm SO FUCKING tired of all the USMC fanboys EVERYWHERE. Anyone who honestly thinks the USMC has ANYTHING that is comparable to the RMC, let alone being superior as a whole, needs to be shot in the ass. Recon? No.
The only thing the US has that is actually a proper Commando type force is the 75th Ranger Regiment.
@Pvtm4a1 no offence mate but your marines couldnt even run the army course over here they've tried when we do our exchanges but everyone is in titled to thier own views
20% drop out for Marines and your right RMC should be more elite because they are commandos so why even try and offend me by saying U.S Marines cant do a certain course?
@Pvtm4a1 i'm not trying to offend i'm just proving the facts..the stroy was 10 Marines exchanged with the british soliders and the marines couldnt do the british army course thats all i'm saying nothig to be offended about
@Doulea82 I totally agree, I'm a RM myself and i'm sick of americans who not only say their army is "better" but they just keep on going, I'm pretty sure most of these people are just kids with no idea of the reality of things, just stick to your playstation kids, we'll do all the talking.
I couldn't agree with you more. I am so tired of the extreme hyped status of the USMC. But, just a heads up, the US does things differently from the RMC. They have entry training (12 weeks) followed by the actual job training of the individual Marine. For Infantrymen, its 7 more weeks of Infantry training. Its like 4 months total, plus they do typically 6 months pre deployment training in the Marines. Still, anyone who compares a US Marine to a Royal Marine is a fucking moron.
@Doulea82 They both serve different purposes. The Royal Marines have a combined force of 8,390. The United States Marine Corps has a combined force of 242,779. It's obvious that the Royal Marines have a Special Forces flavor to them. The USMC also has a Special Forces unit within itself known as MARSOC. If you really want to get froggy go fuck with Navy SEALs, they will set you straight.
@Doulea82 Your actually quite wrong. Marines are hard to join, maybe its 90% pass rate because we are so good! Haha, oh and Americans aren't Ignorant. I respect every soldier in the U.N.
@jonnytusmc The USMC are just Marines nothing else. The Royal Marine Commandos are elite amphibious infantry who have the longest training in the world out of any conventional force 99.9% need not apply.. Stop been so patriotic and admit that our Royal Marines are better then just your normal USMC Marines. I can admit when im wrong why cant some americans? lol ill admit anyday of the week the US has the most powerfull military but not the best trained. that title belongs to the british!
@jonnytusmc The USMC has several commando level units such as Force Recon, MARSOC, and FAST. Im not being patriotic, the Recon units were created to be Marine Corps special forces because Marine Corps MAGTAF's needed Raid units to do Commando like things. Not to mention when Recon goes to war, it has the Support of the MAGTAF if allowed. Which is 2200 more Marines and an Airwing, MARSOC is more of a Pure Special forces team. The USMC special forces
Even British infantry's and technical personel's basic training is 14 weeks long lol... Royal Marines > USMC

Also, I'm British, before anyone say anything.

Royal Marine training-9 month USMC training-12 week
Royal marine pass rate-about 25%(thats what the RMC forums say)
USMC pass rate-90%(again i could be wrong with these since thier off websites)
Royal marines are trained commandos -USMC ...are not
