German National Anthem With English Translation

Im american, w/ Italian backgroung, but in my opinion this is my favourite , the must wonderful beautiful National Anthem , w/ wonderful lyrics !!!!!!!!!!

Therefore I'm quite ashamed to find that so-called "long-version" of our anthem... It's nothing else but re-glorifying our darkest moments in national (and worldwide) history.Somebody playing the first stanza at a public event in Germany could be prosecuted and sentenced for demagougary.

Being a German I have to inform you, that the federal republic of germany constituded 1949 in its Grundgesetz (constitution) that the third stanza (einigkeit und recht und freiheit - unity, justice, liberty) of hadyn/fallersleben's deutschlandlied is the only one to represent germany. Both first and second stanzas are relict from the german empire (1871 to 1933, including weimar republic), misused by hitler's propaganda in 1930s and 40s. Haydn's melody is the former austrian empire's anthem
