but let me tell you a true event. 9 years ago, I was out checking on our horses on the outskirts of Stevenage U.K.

walking with my dog, a young lad of 7 years walked up to me pushing a pushbike with a flat tyre, he asked me if I could show him the way home,

as some bigger boys he had gone for a ride with had popped his tyre and told him to go home but he was lost, he new his address but did not know the way home, I said you will have get your dad to fix your bike, he told me he didnt have a dad and his mum would just put his bike in the garden.

So we walked to my home and I fixed his tyre and took him home.

One Week later his photo was on the front page of our local paper he had been run over on his bike.

I felt so bad and still do.! if only I had`nt fixed his bike he would not have been riding along that road.

Iocals said he had been riding up and down that road all day.

Any way about 2 weeks on I saw an advertisement in our local paper SPIRITUALIST CHURCH in Hitchin 7 miles away.

I said to the wife I would like to go and see if we could get a message from my mother.

Note to Randi: People who base their 'futures' on projected inheritances, IMHO need to get lives of their own and fast. If my parent(s) decide to drop every cent they've worked their lives to make on some psychic, that is really their own business. My point is, that Randi even mentioned it as a reason. Your reasons are all fine. BIg picture: great. I still persist, however that this example was one of the worst and least important reasons (I would hope) why Randi has embarked on this work.

You're welcome to your opinion, of course, but I disagree vehemently. I see it as certainly the most noble and immediately beneficial reason for such work, even if it's not the most important in the long run.

The reason he brings it up chiefly is simply because it is the easiest for people to relate to and conceptualize. Scamming like this takes forms that do more than steal grandma's savings. It also exploits parents of missing children, the family of murder victims and people who are mourning loss. Later in the show he talks about people throwing their life saving medications on stage at faith "healers" gatherings. Stopping these types of scam artists saves lives. Its worth a mention.
