  • i luv it

  • I was lucky enough to see Danielle play so many times, but this remains my all-time favourite.

  • Dame Danielle Dax,was light years ahead of her time.Forget about Toyah and Siouxsie, the woman was genius...and still is!Not to mention she was the epitome of awesomeness and cool!Did I mention she`s hot??? :-)

  • This is a discovery for me. I have never heard of Danielle Dax before. Glad to find it here.

  • This track is nearly thirty years old but still sounds like it's come from the future. Pop music now feels like it's about 50 years behind this. My poor daughter (11) Listens to Glee, BEP, Lady GaGa et al and just pray it's only a phase and she'll start to seek out something real cos I know it's out there, you just have to look.

  • Daniele Dax makes Ga Ga look like the man she IS!

  • can anyone understand at least some of the lyrics???

  • @learza93 - do you mean make out what they are or do you mean COMPREHEND them? both, here.

  • @learza93 :It`s about the neonazi assholes.Check the lyrics,carefully,you`ll get the meaning..."Torches burning/their numbers growing"...

  • her albums are awesome and i love the opera influence

  • whoa

  • If there was a D-list version of Lady GaGa that lived in the 80s it would be Danielle Dax.

  • @decadent84 "Lady" Gaga isn't fit to polish Danielle Dax's shoes.

  • Ms. Dax was light years ahead of other artists at that time. Love her!

  • This woman was only limited by the technology, The sound is still years ahead of now but the visuals are positively '80s.

  • wtf? I was listening to a Goldfrapp mix and this came on....

    o.O

  • @party6panda omg i love goldfrapp lol.

  • @party6panda probably because Goldfrapp stole something or another from her like she does EVERY artist. Not that I dislike her she is just really not a creative person. She is like the Quentin Tarintino of new disco...

  • reminds me of some weird x factor contestants

  • @spinthebottledotcom: retarded??? Old school maybe, but cool. timeless.

  • this is retarded.

  • @spinthebottledotcom it's not retarded, it's 80s lol

  • You can hear a Kate Bush influence in this song.

  • If you like this then look up Toyah's early stuff like "She" for an example, because you'll be blown away :D

  • rotflmao fergot about her lol

  • My gods, I am experiencing anamnesis! It is all flooding back, watching this as a 13 year old & been totally blown away by this! Riverside was so great along with the early Tube and 'Whatever You Want'....I had thought music is supposed to evolve! The reason I don't understand "young peoples music" is because it is not radical enough, that is what I don't understand, this devolution into the mediocre & the banal! I was recently listening to her version of Tomorrow Never Knows, killer track!

  • OLD SCHOOL!

  • goth is undead that all i have to say and i hope it will always be to pollute my life and ravage me with vigor emotions for ever and not under the guise of any other format like emo or marilyn manson's metal but may it stay true to its cause. my love for thee dax well done thank you for pathing the way like souxie and eva o and tina root.

  • @462jinks

    Siouxsie not Souxie

  • @WoodRatGirl

I think it's funny how people claim to be Siouxsie's number 1 fan, but I always see them spell it "siouxie" or siuxse". You'd think after all that fanhood and merch they claim to have, they'd at least get the name right after "all the years".

  • stupid slapper

  • i am sure she is taking care

bout the flowers in her garden.

i don't think she is wearing crocs.

  • Comment removed

  • nina hagen is good but she's quasi-loads- of-people! dax always had her own ideas. i agree with the person i can't spell who said she is original!

  • quasi-nina hagen!

  • Fun song and fun vid! Love her and the weirdness. Original!!!

  • she wanted sooo much to be another siouxsie sioux.....but...

  • she is absoloutely a dark godess!respect

  • She was such a wonderul artist. This sounds just as fresh as it did all those years ago.

  • Makes me sleepy.

  • Goddess.

If you can find a copy of "Jesus Egg that Wept", it is the most amazing EP evah!

  • So mystical.

  • damned, now i know why i am looking for 2 years for this song!i thought it was from nico or even marianne faithfull.this one by D. dax is the one that i remember from 20 years or more ago.heyheyhey,i found many old songs via Y-T.this site is great!thanks everyone, thanks. deman from leuven belgium said THANKS.

  • ah gone are the days of big haired gothdom..all these masonites and metal heads saying their goth..I will always remember...

  • yeaaaa!!

  • me too!

  • Before her time

  • This reminds me of just how goofy I used to dress in the 90's.

  • So do you, but hey, who's complaining???

  • Agreed Batty009, SonAvitch is yet another example of the illiterate idiots that proliferate on YouTube.

I assume that 'Pariah' is nothing like the mass-produced crap he/she listens to.

I've seen Danielle live. Innovative, off-the-wall and plain brilliant.

    Get well soon, Danielle.

  • This is my most favourite.

  • *

    She looks like Nina Hagen.

    .

  • Or does Nina Hagen look like her? Ive been a Hagen fan for 25 years yet unfortunately a CrazedWitch only just told me about Ms Dax. It seems I've missed out on much. Can someone fill me in about this amazing talent(including chicken & egg question (if any) re Nina & Danielle) Thanks :) ?

  • Oh, look at the positive side, lots of great stuff yet waiting for you! Anyway - I'm not aware that any of them copied the other. It's not only them - Siouxsie, Lisa Dalbello (in her 80s albums, not the 70s), and others, I think their look was some sort of post punk Barabarella.

  • Great to see this again after 26 years. There was no-one else doing what she did, either with the Lemon Kittens and solo. Trust me - I was there! A multi-instrumentalist with an amazing vocal range. A very disctinctive singer and everything stood out about her!

  • great artist. Dark Adapted Eye just been re-released on CD.

  • My favourite version of this is the one on the "BBC Sessions" CD.

  • well this was a lot more interesting than the later stuff.

  • She's Creepy..

  • I believe the word you are searching for is "Spooky"

  • I like this song. If this is goth music then i'm down.

  • trashy..lol

  • I love her. This is one of my favourite songs.

  • Riverside was a great music programme. We were spoilt for choice back in the early 80s. Riverside, The Oxford Road Show and The Tube all broadcasting at around the same time.

Now what is there? Later with Jools Holland and that is it. MTV and the digital music channels are utter shite.

How glad I am that I was born in 1964 and was the right age for this kind of music.

  • Is this a live version? The vocals are completely new from the song and the music is also changed a bit.

  • i think it was pre-recorded specifically for this program.

  • Great utterly brilliant artist, I think her career might have gone further if her image (art/goth) matched her music (off the wall pop) better. Didn't she give up music for interior decorating?

  • I luv her shes awesome ...im only 13 but shes like one of my fave singers shes amazing!xx

And i dont see what the big deal is with this goth thing ....some goths may like metal or may not they are who they are they like what they like....like other people like all different genres

  • Goths listen to goth obviously, because without listening to goth they wouldn't be goth :p

But many goths listen to other genres as well, like industrial or psychobilly. Some do listen to metal as well as goth, it's all down to personal taste.

  • Goths listen to anything they want. Many goths *do* listen to metal. If they didn't, there'd be a lot less camaraderie at Wave-Gotik-Treffen, eh?

  • so........ do you guys listen to metal? not to be mean and iam not downgrading anything.

  • no , goths hate metal

  • whoa really? iam part goth but iam obbsesed with metal.

  • A *true* multi-talented artist that wrote her own stuff, did her own instruments. A pioneer of Goth. Goth has since evolved. I love DARK ADAPTED EYE!!! All the songs on that album tell a different piece of a collective story. Truely magnificent.

  • you're a moron

  • Word!

  • whateves./ enjoy, yer cracked out, / out of breath junkie../

  • Junkie? So where'd you hear she does drugs? Lmao. You know nothing about goth, obviously and you're upset someone is telling you that. She's a pioneer.

  • and you are vary special..!

  • lol what does vAry mean? i'm not familiar with this word. is it possible that she intended to sing peculiarly? is it also possible that is sound quality is fucking terrible?

  • riiiight ....

  • Was this a tv act with live singing and dancing? Why did they hurt that much? This song is much more sophisticated and hard to sing then charts music ey! respect!

  • saw her when she was a lemmon kitten. mad.

  • Awsome song.

And someday I'll have massive purple hair as well.

    Or perhapse not.

  • Has there ever been one of her doing Born To Be Bad? That'd be fricking sweet to see !!!!!!

  • This song rules. Danielle has got such a great sinister presence in her voice. Wish mor emodern Goth bands would take a tip from this style.

  • I really like see this film. It remind me of that film - you know it? the one with the man and he hide hes wife cloth and things and OMG then that girl under the bed....very scarry ...so thank you :)

  • Another great video from industrial82. Keep up the good work

  • The ozone layer must have taken a big hit from all that hairspray LOL

  • One of my all-time favorites. Thanks for digging up the video!!

  • Yes,this is the Danielle I remember-not a "Cathouse" cutie. I hope you are well today, thanks for not letting them turn you into Bananarama-type. Probably a great mom and...hmmm,I can see you with your own boutique and paintings too? Seems to fit.I did like "White Knuckle Ride, though.

  • Thanks-I sure did not forget this!

  • I know little of her. I just searched a song that has been bothering me. Is she dead?

  • Loved in the 80;'s Still diggin it now.

    She Rocks

    dd

  • I taped this, and lost the video eons ago. So good to see it again.

  • My favorite female artist. And I mean artist. Miss her.

  • What are those paintings on the wall? demons? Man, she looks like she got slammed in the face by Chucky a few times. She looks like she's ready to be roasted and eaten by the Queen and some sleestak.

  • I jokingly remarked many years ago that I was going to form a band and call it 'Everything Reminds Me of Danielle Dax.' My only knowledge of her touring the US was a ridiculously short set that had her sharing the bill w/ The Sisters of Mercy. She closed with "Cathouse." I won't forget anytime soon...

  • I just love her.

  • Thank you for posting this rare video of the most innovative of female artists.

  • what's not to love...she's still the best!

  • thanks for this rare tune!

  • this is the song that made me love her.
