I like this song a lot. The choral part is a little strange expecially the "ma-an-an-an-an-aah!" part. BUT, it's a well written song in the traditional sense that it has a beginning, a bridge (which a lot of popular music doesn't have today), a key change and ending. That's how the greatest songs are written in my opinion.
This is one of the best music videos that I have ever seen in my life. The song is great, and the pictures are great. I'm so in love with it all. Thank You very much.
I've been trying to listen to other singers both of today and of yesterday...but still, nothing excites me other than Karen's voice...she's simply the BEST.
@steveatl40 steve, steve. you think THIS is a great performance by karen but you think "where do i go from here" isn't? i think she sounds "shrill," "like a little girl," and "light and airy" -- phrases used by you in other posts -- in this song.
I don't care NOBODY will ever sound like Karen.. she was and ALWAYS WILL BE ONE OF A KIND!! I hate listening to ding dongs trying to sing her music and destroy it!!! I miss this woman.. she has amazing talent and beauty. After she passed you would think people would learn yet today most girls on tv all look like bones and fake breasts!!
Reminds me of 'Betcha By Golly Wow'. I love the vocal and think that they were trying for a more crossover sound with the additional vocalists. Soulful and sexy but as we all know, Karen didn't and wouldn't tolerate a player. Maybe the Strength of the back of her hand!
Yes, Betcha by Golly Wow. Same thing! Karen was the best. Richard's selections of songs weren't the best close to the end, but Karen was always beyond expectations. Even "Strength" is worth listening, if it is Karen singing.
i agree with steveatl40 - her vocals on this song are HOT. the chorus (and especially the choral background) sucks, though. "the lovin' of her ma-ha-han-aaaah!" haha
This is actually one of Karen's best later works :) I like how she's expanded her vocal style to a more expressive approach. I wish they hadn't used the awful choral background, though. Overall, great song, Karen sounds very good here.
I like this selection of photos. It's clever the way you gave us a good look at Karen's eyes when she sings the line about a look in the eyes. Karen used a unique tone in starting to sing this song. The lyrics embrace a tolerance for infidelity.
One of my favorites of Karen's love song. Thanks for posting.

Great playing! and great melody! I love this song most in the Carpenters.

Honestly, this was one of the Carpenters best songs in their musical career.
Made In America should have got more stars than it deserved , instead of getting a lukewarm response from critics .
It think it was one of the best albums that Carpenters released.
Karen's angel voice will always be remembered, it's sad that the light dimed too quickly for sweet Karen . Richard is a genius music composer.

KC the soul singer, sounds like. She's a chameleon for song the most. I see she could have reinvented herself into any genre, had lasting career

I agree with Steve - lovely vocals, with the exception of parts of the chorus.

The beginning of this song does sound a lot like the beginning of "Betcha By Golly Wow" by the Stylistics.
