Stone Mountain has completely sold out for the almighty buck. You'll be hard pressed today to hear or read a single word about the Confederate soldiers it was originally designed for.
i remember goin there when i was three im 14 now seeing this got my memeries flowing
p.s kkk and robert e lee have nothing to do with each other i whould now hes my grandmas great great great uncle witch make him my one of my great uncles
i went to the one that played last night and i was the best show i have ever seen lol but i didnt even htink of gettin a video but thanx for the vid :)
i am acually from germany but was visiting my cousin in atlanta in 2007 and we went to this show. it was GREAT, especially when they had "proud to be an american" and star spangled banner. the atmosphere was so catchy.
what an awesome way to end a day at stone mountain.(absolute one of the best parks ever that ive been to) kinda better than wild adventures in valdosta actually
Once when we went there when they were doing fireworks the trees at the bottom of mountain caught on fire. The fire department came. Good thing we were in like the middle lol
I dont like it when they do that part at 2:11 it freaks me out. I love going until they do the anthem. It makes me cry because i am so proud.I love going to Stone Moutain :-)
It's too bad the kids that run the sound don't know what a "delay" is or how to set one. It sounds like $hit. And they need to re-tune the speakers aswell, too much bass. Other than that, it's fun!
It depends where you sit. I have found that as far back as the control booth has the best acoustics, It sounds perfect. The current setup has been used since the eighties.
Why on earth they pointed the speakers toward the mountain, I haven't a clue, but still, its a mighty display of what eastern acoustic works can do. Good god it is awesome, but they usually play some boring pedestrian music.
i was just there last week and saw the same exact show.. I guess it doesnt change very much. had a terrific time even if i am ashamed they carved a confederate image into that beautiful mnt. it made me very sad to read the racist history of stone mnt . the KKK etc.
That is the most ignorant comment. The confederacy is not a symbol of hate. Don't forget, at one time you're folks up north were involved in slavery too. We all learn from mistakes, but we should all remember and honor our heritage.
I am from Maryland, but married a woman from Georgia in 1969. The 4 1/2 years we were married we would visit her parents who lived close by Stone Mountain. I have many fond memories about Georgia. The people were very friendly and caring. The are sincere and very loving. This video brings back a lot of memories. One of these days, I would love to move to Georgia and stay there. Thanks.
the laser show is one of my very favorite traditions in georgia!!! i love having a picnic and watching the laser show. i hate that 1 song at 2:12 though!! everything else i love. Ive gone every year since ive been alive... usually more than once!!!!
Patriotism is a word that many have forgotten. I love this country and the great state of Georgia where I live. This laser show is absolutely phenomenal. If you don't get a renewed sense of love for your country after seeing this I am truly sorry for you. This is something every American should have the priveledge of seeing.
And my eyes tear up every time during the 'Georgia', 'God Bless the USA' and Elvis parts. Man, it's such a moving show. I used to see it several times a year when I was little and my family lived down there, but it doesn't have the same effect until you grow up and can really understand how great this state/country is.
Here's an interesting historical note; the carving on the mountain was never finished. The artist intended to have an entire marching army behind them, It would've spanned the entire mountain behind them.
whee! I only went there once, but i like this place so much. It's really a wonder why Stone Mountain Park is not a national park, heck it's not even a Georgia State park, what's up with that!?
A little known fact about Stone Mountain Park is that the State of Georgia actually owns the park, but it's not a part of the DNR State Parks Division. The park is privately operated by Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation of Branson, MO.
well tonight is the 08 one and im not gona make it (sob) be my friends and cuz are going to make it and tape it all(yay) wish i could make it tho i need glow stix (sob)my name is nic baumgart and i live free YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to love the ignorance that some profess from their loins. To the guy who made the "fought FOR slavery" comments, have you gone through a standard 12 year education process? Did you pay attention to the portion about a little thing called the Civil War? Did you also by chance see the part where Robert E. Lee allowed existing slaves to take part in the fighting to protect land given to then for their efforts, along with their freedom?
Im guessing not...so carry on with your stupidity.
3:06-4:38 DIXIE sung by Elvis and also the monument coming to life, it makes me happy and my eyes water up seeing it! I am a direct decendent of Gen. Lee through my mom's side of the family so this is extra special! THANK YOU! p.s. I was there at the 2007 light show! with BSA Troop 665!
I love Stone Mountain I been there so many times that i can't even count them I use to live I use live in Conyers GA and now I live in OH I hope someone will film the whole laser sho and put it on you tube
THEY DID NOT FIGHT FOR SLAVERY! my great great grandfater Gen. Robert E. Lee fought for States rights not slaves! so did many if not most of the other soldgiers on the Southern side! You need to not judge by ONE issue expand your thoughts! most people in the south couldent even afford slaves! AND YES SLAVERY AND DESCRIMINATION ARE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE THINGS!
the north would have used slavves if they'd needed them. The only differance is that it was more practical in the south. Lincoln made it *look* like it was over slavery to get the rest of the world to rally behind him.
a smart move if ever there was one, but Lincoln was probably as racist as anybody of that time.
Hey thanks, I was really trying to get some good shots for YouTube so that people that have never been can see what it is like. Even though I took the video with a Sony HDR-HC7 hd cam, the level of resolution here doesn't do the show justice.
What is the song that starts on 2:13 ? I've been looking for it for years! If smeone knows please tell me. I'd appreciate it. :) Thank y'all!
