Listened to you sing this a couple of times through now, and decided really I like your voice and your take on a largely inimitable classic! Wonder what you make of my effort?
i call shinannigans! you're lip-singing in some of these camera angles, aren't ya? I do have to give credit where its due...you did a good job with the finger picking.
Not technically lip-synching...I was actually playing and singing in each shot, but the actual audio track may or may not have been utilized in the video mix because I only have one camera and I am doing all of the engineering myself. LOL If I had a video crew with multiple cameras which could be faded from one to the other on the fly...well then that would be a different story wouldn't it? LOL. I just wanted to make something that wasn't simply a static camera shot. ;)
Excellent guitar work, however the vocals just aren't working for me. Just doesn't sound right. You are a bit too high and something else. I am not saying that you can't sing, but just not for this song.
A swing and a miss....STE-RIKE! LOL. Yea I don't care much for my own voice at all on ANY song I sing. I think it's natural to expect to be hearing James Taylor's voice in this and when it isn't there it's just disappointing or something.
Hey - your voice is enjoyable! You gave the song a new sound - and that's refreshing. You didn't try to copy. :-D If you want cater-wauling, you should hear me! (which is why there is no recording of me) Wish I had your talent for singing and playing. I gave you 5 stars. Keep it up!

Thank you. This is the guitar I learned how to play on. My dad bought it new in 1963 for $250 (which might as well have been $2500 back then). It's a 1963 Country & Western model that I managed to slither out of the house with when I left home at the age of 18...HAHAHA. Cheryl Crow plays one identical to it, but hers is a 1962 model. Yep it still plays and sounds great, and I wouldn't take a million dollars for it. 2 million, maybe...HAHAHA. Thanks for your comment.
2 things-you have and amazing cover of this song, awsome job. And the second is that i was laughing for about five minutes after i saw you replies two those two punks
That was superb my brother! don't worry about all those chumps bagging on you, what they don't know is that even though you may be a little old you could still deliver them a good ole' country ass whippin...keep jammin my brotha its awesome!
Keep it up. This is great. You sound quite like Willie Nelson. Beautiful textured voice. I think I'll look for more of your videos. Really enjoyed this.
You better learn how to read there, bucko...it's Silver HAMER...HAMER!!! Hamer is a guitar brand that I play...the silver part comes from the color of my hair, you dipshit.
And I was wondering why you don't seem to have anything better to do than to go around making trouble...you're useless. One look at your profile tells the whole story...you are a LUSER of EPIC proportions. I can't believe I'm wasting time replying to you...just be glad we aren't in the same room...you'd be in a pile of blood and spit after I beat your ass for being a punk.
A-HAAA! Ok, gotchya! Well, I was sitting down for part of it...hehe. The close-in shot is actually where the audio for the guitar track is coming from...but sssshhhhh! :D Thanks again! LC
great cover..I've just learned this song and I'd love it if you'd take a look.. I'm gonna post it within the next couple of days. I'll let you know when
HI - this is Andy from the UK - fantastic production. Much respect. I'm learning this song for myself and having fun, but I dont have the talent to produce the backing track. Would you be willing to share your work ? I set myself a new year resolution to be play for the first time at an open mic night and was hoping to play this track.
hey i have a challenge thats not really a challenge but here it is. or maybe you already played the song i didnt check yet, anyway the beatles I Will. the cool fills.
i know its in F so i know he uses a capo. i dont know if thats paul or george doing that?
pauls so damn talented it probably is him. how clean those licks are just sounds amazing.
That is a great song, and I believe it IS, in fact, Paul doing all of the guitar work. I have never even tried to play this one, even though I really like it a lot. My friend Dave does a really great version of that tune...search out fredthejunkman and check him out. In the meantime I will see about working up that song when I have time to devote to it. Thanks for the suggestion. LC
Yea, all of us dillweeds play nice guitars...LOL. This is a 1963 model that my dad bought new and I managed to leave home with it. This is the axe I learned to play on...it has lots of miles on it but still sounds great.

Wow! Thank you Billo! It thrills me to know you're getting this level of enjoyment from my playing around and experimenting. I never claim to have all of the goods on anything, but I really enjoy my most favorite hobby! Hey, I got a video response from a guy tonight on my Back In Black video where he sings it for me...something I couldn't do...HAHA. All The Best! LC
For the most part I usually make a backing track and leave some of the parts off which I play when I shoot the video. In this one, the vocal is recorded live while shooting, while the guitar was actually being recorded during the close-up. The audio tracks for anything I record while shooting usually goes to my board so that I can get a better audio quality, but sometimes I just sit in front of the camera and don't worry about all of that.
Pt 2. In this particular song I recorded the vocal track in both the long shot and the close up and used parts of each one in the final audio mix. Originally I hadn't planned on having the long shot but decided to add it while I was putting this together...and in the end I was glad I did because the singing was better in a few spots than on the closeup...LOL.
Hey man You were GREAT! I'm an old guitar picker myself, where did you get the backup music? Is there a CD I can buy? Any info would help. And by the way, cool shirt!! Thanks bro!
Hi bunkman! Thanks for the kudos. The backing track is my own concoction. The good news for me is that the piano part is really very simple, but a few very well-placed notes sound really nice. I am not an accomplished keyboard player, but I love to tinker around with it.
Oh well, you can't please everyone...however, after a quick look at your profile I notice that you are a noob and have nothing of your own posted, which is typical of most spineless, witless, gutless people who are only here to berate people without impunity. Get some balls, youngster, and learn some manners. LC
Yea, the youtube codec sort of messes up the audio/video synch so that many times the audio is either ahead or behind the video on many of my posts. It doesn't do that on myspace, youtube drives me crazy sometimes. Judging by the fact that you have nothing of your own posted I'd say the nature of your comment was meant simply to be a basic bullshit remark...which is fine, but put something of YOURS up so I can reciprocate in kind...or maybe you're just too chicken? HAHA. Peace. LC
This guy has a great voice. I've given this one a shot, check it out my vid. My voice is not right but tried to get the guitar close...need some feedback. thank you.
You sound almost exactly like Willie Nelson, but with different, unique vocal nuances. A little Jerry Garcia too. Which is to say, excellent. I was always afraid to cover this, but seeing you do it inspires me. Bravo!
Great cover. I liked it very much. Especially all the different angles. And don't worry about the "shine" on your head. It actually reminds me of a very talented performer named James Taylor. ;)
It's a youtubeism...it only happens here. There is a disparity in the codec between my software and youtube...this doesn't happen with the videos I've uploaded to myspace...so yea, this thing's been youtubed. LOL. Thanks for the compliment. LC
Thank you very much! I'm not very good at math so I'm a little stumped on the 8 hands and 10 thumbs up formula...hahaha. I DO appreciate the kudos. LC
This is the first song I ever mustered the courage up to sing in front of people. I still remember the day... it was at a little bonfire in my backyard with my cousins and neighborhood friends. things haven't been quite the same for me since! You sound spectacular on it. I also like the no do-rag look. Very Jerry Garcia, though I'm sure you've heard that one before.
HAHA!! Thanks man! I've never heard anyone say that I resembled Jerry Garcia before, but I am frequently accused of being David Crosby's look-alike. Great story about the bonfire! Thanks for the kudos! LC
Tremendous job of singing and playing at the same time! And like the previous poster said, it's hard to hit JT's notes, but you did about as good a job as possible. LOok forward to some other songs by you.
I've just recently picked up guitar, and James Taylor is my favorite solo artist. I don't strum chords yet (lame, I know) But I can pick James Taylor's song very well. I hope one day to be as good as you. Excellent singing.
I'm a dedicated subscriber... I love your stuff, you are amazing. Your voice great in your own way. I try to learn these songs, but I'm just not good enough. You inspire me to try harder though
Thank you very much for the nice compliment. NEVER give up trying because a fair amount of what I play is really not as difficult to play as it might sound. Keep practicing, practicing, practicing, and when you've finished, practice a little more. You'll get a handle on it. Thanks again. LC
I apologize for the audio track on this...it seems that youtube generally gets the audio track out of synch with the video during the upload. I have a better copy of this posted on my myspace profile...larrycurtismusic.

I've just recently picked up guitar, and James Taylor is my favorite solo artist. I don't strum chords yet (lame, I know) But I can pick James Taylor's song very well. I hope one day to be as good as you. Excellent singing.

Interesting way of cutting two different camera angles together; one sitting and one standing.
Nice job all around.

SilverHamer,
I'm a dedicated subscriber...
