this vid brings back so many memories of the last time I saw Ian--- the quality of the vid might be lacking, but it really did bring out what he is like on stage. Just hope to see him a few more times, and may he ride sweet
I love Ian's voice.. He is absolutely the most magnificent singer around. His tender voice has a way with grabbing at my heart string until i shed some tears or two.. He would have been a fantastic opera singer if he wanted to be one. And yes, he is so much better than George Strait! Please listen to his heart rendering performance on Four Strong Winds. It is more than enough to make a grown woman cry.
Thanks so much for posting this. I was at this show and intended to bring my camera but forgot. This is a treat! By the way the date of this show was July 25, 2008 - a Friday night.
Monte just disappeared. Ian told me he passed away last year. What a great flatpicker. I'm so glad I posted this video, I thought twice (don't think twice) cause it's such low quality, but it does make me smile. Ian says Judy Collins version of this song built his ranch! He always was and still is, one of the handsomest men I ever met
@Schlockumentaries Monte was living in NW Connecticut last I knew about 20 years ago or so when I last spoke with him. He wrote a column for the local paper back then. Great picker.
Yeah! My brother went to Mariposa this weekend to see Ian (and Sylvia?) and Gordon Lightfoot. Funny: I was just looking at your card today!

Some Ian is always better than no Ian. But still, watching him do Four Strong Winds in this video makes me cry. There will never be another Ian.

Thank you! Ian & Sylvia were simply the best of the 1960's - their harmony was unmatched. And, yes - some Ian is better than no Ian.

speaking of Monte Dunn, whatever happened to him? I met him just after he joined I and S in 1963-64 and he was great...
