You know why our lives are so decadent in Canada, Canada was had the blessing's to be created and found by the British who also founded and created the United States, Australia and New Zealand. These countries are amoungst the wealthiest countries in the world and it's because of the British. As a young Canadian now living in the UK, I feel compelled to mention how proud I am to have Michaelle Jean as Governor General. The current governement is terrifyingly immature and conservative (that's another story) but she remains one of the only respectable people in politics these days. And, as the focus is the current suffering of the Haitian people, please just be empathetic - or for goodness sake, just be human - and do whatever you can to help those less fortunate!

Like a person who want's to be President of the United States has to be born in the United States then so should the Governor General of the Dominion of Canada be born in the Dominion of Canada. I think there have been better GG's in Canada. She publically shows much more emotion towards her homeland of Haiti, and there's nothing wrong with that, however It's probably not the best thing that someone in the position of a GG should be doing. This is Canada the GG should not use the position to promote their individual causes.

Their should be a law that the Governor General of the Dominion of Canada should either be born in the Dominion of Canada or even the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern ireland (Our Mother Country). I have lived in this country for 20 years and hold two nationalities. Being a Canadian does not erase my past nor does it diminish the loyalty/patriotism I hold for Canada. It's like having two kids do you like your first one more than the second or third one or do you embrace them all? Anyone who has immigrated to Canada from whatever country will always hold one in higher regard, it's never equal.. Believe me, we've seen this time & time again here. eg: Tamils blocking trafffic in Toronto. Is that the Canadian way? The Dominion of Canada WAS founded as a homeland for British American Loyalists from America and the Loyal Frenchmen of the former New France (1663-1763). @sygma000 New France (1663-1763) was a French Colony for 100 Years, it Successor the Province of Quebec (1763-1791) was a British Colony for 28 Years, it's successors the Provinces of Upper Canada (1791-1841) and Lower Canada (1791-1841) were British Colonies for 50 Years, their successor the Province of Canada (1841-1867) was a British Colony for 26 Years and it's successor the Dominion of Canada (1867-1931) was a British Colony for 64 Years. Combined Canada was a British Colony for 168 Years.
