@urchin76 I now use a soldering iron and am happy enough. Regularly, however, I leave it on overnight only to see I forgot to turn it off the next day -very, very dangerous. I need an auto off switch of some kind. Recently I've heard of "sodlering pencils" and look forward to hearing more about those.
INteresting that your preference is for a soldering gun. I have used several (good ones) and yet I have always gone back to a decent adjustable temperature soldering pencil.
Soldering gun is what I got for free. I like the trigger-off function as I've been using an iron more recently and I've left that on overnight. HIGHLY uncool of me to do. The gun is more intuitive in that regard. However, this is the second time I've heard of a pencil so have ta find out more info on them as the tip sounds like it would be more precise.

hi you can use those blown leds and cut off the wire for bread board test poits and use them on perf boards to connect componets
