Every race is also a monster, elves, orcs, halflings..

Also there aren´t all the races at the first gamebook, they will come in the second player handbook. So probably Gnomes will come later.

Actually, Gnomes and a bunch of other Races are given Usable Stats in the Monster Manual.  Though it does state that the stats are for creating NPCs, I checked them out and they do balance just right with the core races, with the possible exceptions of the Warforged and Drow. But I could be wrong on those.

I´ve made Drow playable with house rules, I love that race. No wonder it´s in my nickname ;P

Does it really matter? You can convert any thinking race (INT 3+, or somethin'?) from any Monster Manual or whatever you want into playable race. So, even if they won't come - that doesn't stop anyone, does it?
