This scene is actually somewhat hilarious in a very dark sense. The movie as a whole was fantastic. Yes, it definitely was the strangest movie I've probably ever seen but it's a testament to human plasticity. The children (and mother to some extent) have been molded into sick creations, completely oblivious to the outside world. With no external stimulus, their eccentric personalities make for interestingly disturbing entertainment to say the least.

Είδα την ταινία χθες...καλά μιλάμε τέτοια αρρώστεια δεν έχω ξαναδεί. Ωραία, το είδαμε, το καταλάβαμε, ο πατέρας είναι άρρωστος. Και; Είναι μια ταινία που απλά σου ανακατεύει το στομάχι και θες να την ξεχάσεις με το που την είδες.

@MRronoazoro Επειδή έχω κάνει και λίγη εγκληματολογία στη ζωή μου, μπορώ να σου πω αυτό που δείχνει ο κυνόδοντας δεν απαντάται σε καμιά γνωστή περίπτωση εσώκλειστων παιδιών, δλδ δεν έχει καμία επιστημονική βάση. Ίσως ο πατέρας θα μπορούσε να είναι μια πραγματική περίπτωση διαστροφικού τέρατος, αλλά οι αντιδράσεις και συμπεριφορές των παιδιών είναι ΑΣΧΕΤΟ, ΔΕΝ ΠΑΙΖΕΙ κοινώς. Είναι καθαρά διαστροφικά δημιουργήματα του Λάνθιμου.Γ'αυτό και ΔΕΝ θεωρώ ρεαλιστικές τις εικόνες που είδα.

@Kanagias00 Γιατί σε ενοχλεί που αποτυπώνεται κάτι τέτοιο στο πανί; Τόσες και τόσες περιπτώσεις έχουν δει τα μάτια μας από το Κωσταλέξι μέχρι την περίπτωση με την έγκλειστη στην Αυστρία. Δηλαδή αν ήταν μια mainstream παραγωγή με κλισέ και συμβατικές εικόνες πχ "Κωσταλέξι, η αληθινή ιστορία" τί θα έλεγες; Το ότι ενοχλείσαι είναι βέβαια στα ατού της ταινίας, Και αν όντως την είδες φίλε δύσκολα θα την ξεχάσεις όσο κι αν το θες. Όσο κι αν είναι ρεαλιστικές οι εικόνες, το όλο εγχείρημα είναι απολύτως συμβολικό. Ο πατέρας - Θεός που έριξε τα παιδιά του σε μια φυλακή - Εδέμ με μόνα ερεθίσματα αυτά που αποφασίζει αυτός να τους προσφέρει.

Η λογοκρισία, ο φασισμός και η αιχμαλωσία σε όλο τους το μεγαλείο. Αυτά και άλλα πολλά μπορούν να ειπωθούν για το συγκεκριμένο αριστούργημα. The ads for this movie are wholly misleading. It's not at all the smugly self-conscious, hipster dark comedy it appears to be in the trailer. Turns out instead to be a stunningly affecting, emotionally agonizing little social commentary that'll nag your soul for many weeks and months...

@cerzule YES, exactly, I'd read a few very wildly positive reviews & was inspired to watch the trailer, which then deflated my expectations, as it's put together to seemingly convince everyone it's a drab post-Rushmore-influenced kooky comedy with the careful cinematography & softly spoken, "quirky" protagonists ( I never understand why the imitations always ignore any trace of Wes' heartfelt emotional sincerity). But fortunately, Dogtooth turned out to be totally its own beautiful creature.
